I can't claim to be an expert on wheels and the various weights - but personally unless I find something out I don't know now - I will be going to the 17" Mazda Rims that come on the new rx7s because they are so light. Kinda like the 16s that came on the 3rd gens in america - lighter than anything I know of.

Does anyone know of wheels that are lighter than or close to the OEM rx7 wheels - 16" or 17"?
I totally agree with you about the unsprung weight issue, which is one of the reasons I will never get 18s.

Some of the lightest wheels around are Volks or SSR Competitions. SSR Integrals are not too much heavier than stock (17x9 weighs about 19 lbs), I'm sure there's a few others. But light-weight = expensive.

Yeah SE37k's are pretty light, but you can't get them in black anymore from what I hear. And as someone said the RH CP035's are pretty damn light too.

Here is a shot of 17" BBS RK wheels.
Lots of clearance to clean those pesky painted brake calipers & show off your cross drilled rotors

My personal favorites, especially since I just bought them two days ago

Just want to say eci your car is amazing The pic of it in the alley with those gunmetal rims on has been my wallpaper since i found that pic. I think some other gunmetal or anthracite rims would look sweet on your car. Especially those webbed design type ones you posted or the other guy posted. THey look to be the best or the HRE's. I'd go lighter 17's with a drop rather than 18's to save unsprung weight like the other guys said. THat is unless you want to be slower or you just use it as a show car. I'd love to see your car sometime dude...i live in orange county, ny.

Thanx bro, appreciate the comments. I'm in the middle of an upheaval of sorts with the car right now, from coilovers to rims, to installing the T78 that I've been staring at for wayyyyyy too long. Hopefully everything will be done before SummerSlam @ Englishtown in July, maybe we can meet up there if you go. I had a mesh type wheel before as well so I'm looking for something alltogether different which is why I'm leaning towards the LE's.

and a cheesy shot of C5's

The car is in 4-Wheelin mode right there. lol. Can't wait to get a real suspension!

I totally agree with the weight issue, Have you guys thought about the Kosei rims? They are light and cheap, if you don't like that you can always go with the Mazdaspeed MS-01 MAG rims (by VolkRacing)
