Question What is this? (under dash connector)

Can anyone tell me what this connector is for and why it may be disconnected and jumped? The red wire is simply a piece of wire bent into a u shape and stuck into the connector as a jumper. This is under the dash on the driver's side just above the pedals. Car is a 93 5 speed base model. Thanks in advance!

That looks like one of the two switches depressed by the clutch pedal. Dunno, I have to double-check my own setup.

Edit: Ah, the jumper would make sense if that is true.

Looks like a connector to one of the switches on the clutch or brake pedal. I'd remove that and wire it properly. That wire is asking to pop off and cause a problem, especially hanging like that.

Thanks guys. I'll try starting it without the clutch depressed and see if it starts. If so, I guess that answers it!

Who in their right mind would put this wire right on top of a pedal so it can get stepped on? Please slap your PO for me.

It was tucked up in there before I took the pic. I pulled it down to get the shot
