what are the turbo heat shields made from? custom heat sheild idea

looks like sandwiched steel? or is it alloy.

There is a good reason for asking, I just put my new 99 spec turbos on and I forgot to put on the heat shield on ( the one that wraps around the turbos ) I have got the underside one on and the downpipe ones as well, its just the one thats missing.

So I'm thinking about fabbing up a custom one to put on rather than go through the whole process of pulling the turbos. i just need to get an idea of what would be adequate, I was thinking 5mm alloy?

You could just put some of that heat sheild blanket material in there. Other than that, I'd say it's easier to pull the turbos.
