what solenoids do I need

what solenoids do I need
I bought the power pulley kit from Pettit and am having a friend install it.
1)He is saying that the Pressure Regulator solenoid is not needed either (this is one closest to the long mounting bracket.
2)He has also recommended not using the EGR solenoid? He says it's for emissions and is not necessary. This is the fourth one in from the bracket.
Your thoughts??
