The total system capacity is 9.2 quarts. Did you drain the block too?

And the general best all around mix is 50-50 distilled water to coolant.

No I didnt drain the block. Me and my friend drained out the coolant in the radiator tank and then refilled it. I just bought the car and when we drained it only a couple quarts came out of the entire tank. We just got back from my first joy ride cause of past overheating issues and after we filled it back up it has stopped.

Well if you've had previous overheating issues, I wouldn't just drain and refill the coolant system and then go joy riding. Test the heater to be sure there's no blockages, maybe run a cleaner through the system and check/replace the t-stat. It only takes one good overheating to kill the coolant seals and then it rebuild time...
