Smoking engine bay

My 94 has a smoking problem, it seems to be coming from between the engine and the fire wall. There is oil residue on the rear oil pan, but the leak, if any, would not create the amount of smoke I have. My best guess is the rear main seal (yea I use to be a chevy guy) or maybe a forward trany (manual) seal. Any help or maybe an old post I can refer too?
Thanks

Sure its oil? I bet its coolant. could be throttle body line or more likely one of the turbo coolant lines, which are a pita to replace but delaminate, bubble up and start leaking. Keep in mind that antifreeze that has leaked and evaporated its water component (by going up in steam on a hot manifold) is flammable, so make sure you fix the problem or you will have an engine fire. I replaced mine with some braided line and then hose clamped some aircraft firesleeve on the new ones.

^^Yup. What's the color of the smoke?? If it's not blue then I would bet on a coolant or even an exhaust leak. If the smoke smells sweet, coolant, smells like gas/exhaust, then exhaust leak.
