At what rate do you burn oil?

Hey All,
I have a frined who's a bit concerned that his motor is guzzling oil...He's consuming about 1/2 quat of synthetic about every 1000 miles on 50k motor with 3mm seals.

I remember when my stock motor was still in, it ate about that much...But it was hella old...Anyway, I recommended he start premixing since his OMP is 120k old.

How much oil do you top off after about 1k?

1/2 quart every 1500 miles. Oil change every 3k with oil added to top off level every 1000 miles. Seems normal to me may have something to do with it being sythetic, or he may use more foot. Higher rpm = more oil from the omp. Just my $.02 from what I've gotten. It did seem to mater how much time I spent in the higher RPM's. Jack

not too much... I at about 1/2-3/4 of a quart every 1500 miles. I have a new oil metering pump (gotta love warranties ) and stainless steel omp lines.

Luckily I get enough fuel in my oil to replace the missing oil so my level stays full from oil change to oil change.

Which is why I change it every 1500-2000 max.

Wonder how much extra horsepower the omp is giving me these days...

Shawn

i have an FC but it does somewhere in the range of a qt to 600-700 miles. But that is because the only times it is driven, it is driven hard and mostly at WOT.

Damn, I use nearly a quart every 1000 miles. 15w50 synthetic. But since I change my oil every 1500 miles it really doesnt bother me. I've also been told by many people that that is normal consumption.
