I am looking for options/ideas to do with my tranny. I've got a 100k+ miles on the manual transmission and it grinds fifth and hard to shift gears. I was wondering if theres any possible reason why it would hard to shift other then the transmission. (Example: When I shift from 3 to 4 hard it feels like the gate is closed and doesn't let me into the gear). I was also wondering if there's other options like rebuild rather then replacement of the tranny. Thanks.

 

replace 5th gear syncro (search) or buy a used jdm tranny for ~350?

 

Change your transmission fluid and see what happens.
