Hey man...There's a few things people don't like around here. Starting threads about topics that have entire subsections of this forum dedicated to them would be one of them.

edit: re-read your post. Another thing people around here don't like is when you start a thread about a topic that's been covered ad nauseum.
Short answer, you can't keep the hold feature with an aftermarket ECU.
Long answer, you can keep it with any ECU, but it requires a **** lot of custom wiring. There's a writeup about it on here.

Take a picture in front of all the cars in your sig, giving us 'the bird'. I certainly hope you are all that you seem, actually I hope for MUCH more as your whole silly avatar 'Pistonkilla' convinces some of us that you are about 15 and this is your first car.
In the spirit of rotary togetherness, I think you need to know that your only real option is to go with a PFS (Peter Farrell Supercars) box, making sure you get a later release unit with software that is rated "Pink 9" or later. Some folks have had a bit of luck after a LOT of playing around with a couple of other ECUs, but if you are swapping to a manual then that wouldn't work.
My thoughts? Just drive the car as it is for now.

We aren't about hating in here, just trying to help fellow rotary brothers out.
But those of us that have been here a long time have seen a lot of posers over the years, is all. Guys that don't even have cars, let alone a FD that come and waste our time. I realize my post came across as harsh so...sorry about that. But maybe you can see where I come from?
There were some relatively recent articles on auto ECUs, by the way.
Here is a pretty good thread:

And I said, "One FAST auto", since everyone hates on the auto all the time...

Thats alright man, i know what you mean, I just strated to read and get into the Rotary and fell in love with it, and HAD to get a RX7 and I have to say its soooo much funner than all my other cars combined the weight distribution and handling is just beautifull man but anyways ill post up some pics soon.
Oh and by the way V8killa was taken and so i went for pistonkilla and had to put the number 1 cause that was taken as well, and i hear all these great things proving my avator name not saying im the #1 just meant it in general.
Becasue I already got ALOT of stuff to do on it and i still need to get ALOT more parts just for the swap so till than i still want to enjoy it.
yeah, a lot of people with auto trannies run a purple auto tranny controller..i forget the name... is it needed? Who knows. I've not used one and have had my automatic 7 for about a year now and never have had any transmission problems. I also run the Apexi PFC ecu. PFC is probably the best way to go for aftermarket ECU, imo. There are tons of tuners for the thing and it's pretty well supported in the forums. If you're in Illinois you need to know A-spec. It's a law.
