What to look out for when purchasing a FD3S
Lately all i've been seeing are rx7's with 100k kms (or 60k miles) .. so what should i look for to make sure its been treated well?.. would it be better to get a stock or a slightly modded
ps. i heard that the stock mid pipe must be replaced early in the cars life or else it'll turn into a lemon by higer miledge, any truth to that??
cheers

Body damage, interior wear, compression check, signs of overheating, leaking of any fluids, how the car drives: excessive hesitation, boost pattern, transmission synchros and overall noise.
Then go here to read more: Lightning in a World of Thunder .
Also, it is the stock pre-mid pipe that needs to be replaced for better engine life. (pre-cat replaced with a downpipe).
Good luck.
PS. Don't necessarily shy away from high mile cars, if they've been taken care of, you may get a good deal. My car now has 93K miles, and it still runs strong, full boost at 13 psi. The only thing with higher mile cars is that the engine and turbos will probably need to be rebuilt relatively soon, which may be a good bargaining chip.

Hmmm, I would say that unless you already know the answer to this question inside and out you need to take any car you are considering to a trusted rotary shop and have them check it out top to bottom. At the very least (and I do mean least) take it to a Mazda dealer.
