what the heck are these things?

I have a few questions about my new FD.

First off, what does the hose go to that should be connected to this broken part on my air box:

Second, what the heck is the lil black "pressure chamber" do in this picture. It looks like it just connects 2 vacume hoses to an empty peice of plastic. Ok to delete?

Third, I am installing a downpipe. Is it ok to remove the heat shields or do i have to retrofit them back onto the new dp, or do you suggest i wrap the dp instead.

Thanks for the help!

1st pic; hose to ACV. 2nd pic; Pressure chamber (you need that), empty piece of plastic? Maybe a check valve or what's left of a check valve. replace and rehook everything; refer to vaccum diagram.

you can get rid of the vacume chamber ( black plastic box) if you go non-sequential with your turbo setup, otherwise leave it.

as far as the broken hole on the airbox, it either goes to BOV, CRV or airpump, I'm not to sure looking at that pic.

For the downpipe, be sure to leave all the heat shields that attach to the turbo. The one on the pre-cat can be pitched.

You can wrap your downpipe, but IMO it's entirely optional. I wrapped mine and the only noticeable difference so far is that it smells.

the broken pipe nipple should have a long rubber hose that goes back to a hard pipe near the rear turbo air inlet.

i've circled it in this picture of my engine ( i actually just took this picture while doing some winter track prep)

so we ended up just removing the airpump entirely. then we plugged all of the leftover holes on the airbox, and capped the metal peice where the air pump would have pumped into. However, we left the acv one open. Should that be capped now too, or does it not matter?

(also, my new fd runs great now (although very rich at idle)! fixed an oil leak on the turbos, replaced some vacume lines, installed a dp, and removed the air pump...yay!)

Make sure you keep an eye on your main cat if you still have it, without the air pump it may foul.
