How to talk someone outta buying a FD

I need to talk a friend of mine who is a horrible driver out of buying a FD.

He is only interested in it because I have one. When he was 16 he got in 2 wrecks and they took his licenese away.

Hes now in the marines and i guess his dad is going to buy the car for him.

Its a 94, and has a clean title, I know if this little fagot buys the car he WILL total it. He totaled a 70hp car.......

He already knows that they arent reliable. But can you guys give me any ideas on how to talk a moron outta buying it????? I've tried everything in my book, but it hasnt worked. help

Show him other "cool" cars that you like or that he knows you like and pretend they are better than your car.

He's probably getting one cause you have one.

Take the map sensor hose, put it back on so it's barely there, and take him for a ride. Then when the hose pops you can play the 'oh **** my engine blew' game for a day or two. That should scare him out of it.

Show him your receipt book, that'll give him a good scare.

This is awesome. Someone should form a 'save the FD' group to prevent the hordes of retarded teens with rich parents from sending these cars to the junkyard. I could even see militant action being taken in order to 'rescue' these cars...

There were several good ideas mentioned. If you can rig something insignificant to malfunction that would be great...or really talk up some other car like an Evo or S2000 as being the **** or something...tell him that's what you *really* wanted but had to settle for an older, used sports car. (I like both of those other cars a lot, but would rather see them destroyed than a FD...at least they're replaceable.)

Let him buy it, talk him into a bunch of parts, then when he wrecks it, you get a bunch of parts for free/cheap.

Are you concerned for his safety or for the waste of another FD?

Cause there are lots of people who buy high performance cars & kill themselves in the first 6 months of ownership.

It's all part of Darwin's theory of "Survival of the fittest" (or smartest).

The government has been trying to save us from ourselves for years.

My advice, don't ride in the car with him & try to stay off the roads he's flying down.

You can also let him read this thread & see if he gets the hint, but I doubt it.

I have a friend that bought a Beautiful black FD cause he liked mine and wrecked it in 7 1/2 months. I was trying to get him to buy something else , but he was set on the FD. I ******* told him that he couldn't handle it , but he is hard headed. Anyway now he's heart broken and I got a free set of rims.

That is a simple one .. Tell him if he gets an FD, to treat it right. And if he crashes it, you will slap the **** out of him with a HAMMER

-or-

Tell him how you got beat on the highway but some other car supra or something. Make it a big deal to you and how you might wanna change to that car

Why would you want an FD when you can have a Daewoo?

Tell him you're planning on selling your car and you're about to buy some other car. Tell him the problems associated with FD's and he'll be scared.

Just tell him the FD is a peice of ****. If he hasnt ridden in your car yet, disconnect a vac line to it idles terrible, doesnt boost, and it slow and get a friend with a civic to race you and whoop your ***, to show how "slow" the fd is. It will work! or just buy him a civic that he will torque steer into a ditch and loose his license again.

Take him to a bunch of autocrosses and he'll learn he can't drive and in the process he'll eventually learn to drive

i dunno, honestly it seems like you don't want him to get it because you have one, and if he does it will ruin the exclusive-ness of your car. but i don't think you should try to talk him out of it OR leave him alone. just tell him what kind of risks he will run for having a high hp car and if he doesn't listen you can tell him " i told you so" . in any case i think he will only learn from first hand experience; most stupid people work that way.

OK, this will work.
What I will do is host a page and make it look official. The page will be a news article about how Mazda it scrapping there rotary program, and that in a few years there will be no new parts made for the rx7's. Then you can tell him that your really concerned about this and that your thinking of selling your car while its still worth something.

HA thats a load of crap... These cars are far to easy to drive far to fast. I have no doubt that every lucky youngin that gets one (or anyother nicer sports car for that matter) has every intention of driving it reasonably but we all know that just wont happen. When its so rewarding to press the gas just a little further and corner just a little harder it only takes a small moment of inattention or a slight misjedgemnt of speed and your just another stat driving up the next guys insurance rates.
