Your car is stock, leave the FPR stock, they are around $150 from Mazda for a brand new one. The fuel pump can be upgraded to a Walbro or Denso both are drop in replacements. Fuel Pumps

The $700 quote looks like someone is charging you list price for the entire assembly and not just the pump.

An upgraded fuel pump will require a tune though no?

Fuel pump does not require a tune unless it is something massive, and at that point you would need an FPR upgrade. The Walbro and Denso simply maintain a more consistent pressure with the stock FPR. We install them in stock fuel system/ECU cars all the time. Every time we get a car in where the customer wants a rebuild, intake, DP and CB but isn't ready to buy a PFC yet.

This is popular Nippondenso fuel pump
and have sold a lot of these lately Aeromotive 340 Stealth Fuel Pump

Either of them work well. The Denso is a direct drop in. Take about 45 minutes to install.

The Denso is quieter, the stock pump is a Denso. The Walbro is less expensive, but is a little louder. They are both good pumps, the Denso is popular among forum members. Teh pressure should stay the same with either. Just more consistent at higher RPM.

The Aeromotive is overkill and not a direct drop in.

Honestly, nobody ever has asked for a stock pump. The Supra pump is an upgrade because it flows more.

Because the supra pump works in the FD3S... and it works better than stock.

Do the Walbro and Denso flow the same amount of fuel at the same pressure? Do not see any specs for the Denso on the site -- thanks.

Most flow rate data for the Supra Denso put it at 300lph, some sites say 290lph.

Banzai-Racing, several last question:
1. Stock wires to supra fp is ok or rewire is neccessary (for 12-13V)?
2. Should i buy not stock fpr if i will use supra fp?
3. Should i install fuel pressure gauge if i leave stock fpr?

Thank you

I already answered the FPR question.

The Denso pump uses the stock wiring, the Walbro comes with a new connector and uses the stock wiring. There is really no need to install another relay and supply constant 12V on a non-modified car with a stock ECU. It would actually make the car run rich at idle and cruise.

You do not need a FP gauge. You can install one but it will not make any difference as to which pump you install.
