I can't find anything that lists the features by different models...I know of some items such as the suspension, brace, dual oil coolers, front lip. Does anyone know the full list of items that make an R1 different?

you've been here for more than 4 years and you don't know how to search?

The R1 had suede seats. The R1 didn't come with a sunroof/moonroof, auto trans or a rear wiper. The R1 was also only availible in Yellow, Red and Black.

That's pretty much it. As I've heard a few people say, "You either have a model with a sunroof or without a sunroof". Implying everything else is interchangable.

actually I did searches multiple ways but never found a listing of features. I was aware of the suede seats, lack of sunroof & rear wiper.

I didn't know that it didn't come in automatic, but that makes sense. Also didn't know about the colors.

Is there anything else different about the r1?

Thanks

yea, the biggest feature for the r1/r2 models was the dual oil coolers and the upgraded suspension (apparently stiff as hell, but i don't know for sure).

as is my understanding, everything else mentioned was basically a way of shaving off weight.

One other difference that people miss is the addition of brake duct guides just behind the R1 lip attached to the covers under the oil coolers. Only R1/R2 models had these.

Also in addition to the above mentioned was a thicker front sway bar.

So to recap R1/ R2 have:

Stiffer springs
Thicker front sway bar
Front strut tower bar
Psuedo suede seats
R1 lip
Brake duct guides
Dual oil coolers
Rear Wing
Came only in Yellow, Red, Black in 93, and Silver, Red, Black in 94/95

They did not originally come with:
Leather or cloth seats
Cruise control
Bose system
Trunk area cover
Sunroof
Fog lights

Both the dealer and customer could add options to the car for special orders. So it is quit possible to add cruise control, fog lights etc to these models.

CORRECTION: Above I mentioned a larger front sway bar. This is incorrect. According to the parts list all 93-95 rx7 had the same front sway bar. 93's had thicker rear sway bars at 17.3mm. In 94 all cars had a 13.8mm rear bar and in 95 the R2 had a slightly thicker bar at 15.9mm.

There, now I can sleep tonight.

I believe there were also some suspension bushing differences between the R models and the standard suspension. The 94 and 95 cars had their suspensions softened just slightly with the bushings in those two later years, but the R model kept its firmer bushings from 93 all the way through. But if you have a parts list for all three years, you tell me. Can you confirm these differences in suspension bushings from the parts lists?

sounds like someone was playing mix and match with your car. It doesn't really matter, unless you're very picky. Essentially, after all these years, you either have a sunroof or you don't.

Trickshot, I called Ray today concerning the sway bars and he confirmed the numbers on the different year sways but I did not ask about the difference between the bushings for the front bars or endlinks. The only bushing he confirmed was the different size needed for the rear bar in 93 versus 94. I should call him tomorrow.

The first pic shows the oil cooler undertray with out the brake duct. The double holes and the ridge give you the outline for the duct.

The second pic shows the duct attached but was modified for his oil cooler installation.
