What exactly could be the reason it blew?
Im going home to my car in a week, and fighting the fight with the powers at be as to why my engine is (most likely) blown.
The car sat for about 2 months at the most without being started, What exactly would cause an apex seal to go in this amount of time.
The car ran PERFECTLY when I dropped it off before leaving to college. I handed over my keys and asked that it be started at a minimum of every two weeks... my father said he would but he didnt. when i got back two months later, its toast.
Now I have dragged out of my brother (16 years old) that he drove the car (at least half a tank, unless he filled it up then I have no clue) but the most I think he could have done to it was miss a shift, and if he had blown it how did he get it back up the driveway? but i guess anything is possible...
So aside from user error, what would cause a rotary to die while sitting for that short of a period of time, or should I place the blame on the keyholders? How it went is very important because it helps me in my fight for a replacement engine.
thanks, mike

Well, if it was started for very short periods of time, you could have some really thick carbon in the chambers. That would keep it from running if the plugs fouled or it just seized up entirely (but unlikely). You say an apex seal went? You did a compression check? You can always try dumping a cup of tranny fluid and letting it sit overnight. That always cured what ailed me.

yeah im pretty sure its dead.
and yes I know for a fact my brother drove it, my father still denys but who knows... neither would speak up if they did blow it.
do you really think carbon could cause the seal to break?

BOOOYAHHHH!
Family first... dont get into a family fued over a car. i know it sucks. But....rebuild..
if your family truley did do something, then they know it.. they will have to live with the fact the did something wrong.. and watch you be upset/strongle to fix it even though it was there mistake.

a tow truck can push it back in to a garage even though it is on a hill (i know from experience). in anycase, it could have blown for a number of reasons. you should have pulled the stock pills from the waste gate and precontroler so boost would drop to about 7psi or some place around there and you should have put the ecu in to limp home mode which would have limited boost to about 4psi and/or rpms to about 4.5krpm
you should have your family pay if they did blow it, if they don't, just drive there car untill yours is fixed
