Lightbulb What do you guys think of my cooling fan mod idea?

Ok. I tested my fans and they do not work at the low speed setting but they do work at every other setting. I know I should buy new fans but I want to know what you guys think of this idea and if it will cause any computer gremlins. I plan on pulling the thermoswitch and putting a Miata one in. Now the miata one triggers at 207F. Now I checked one of my fan relays so I know at least one of them works. My idea was to run my Miata thermoswitch to the relay and then rewire the relay to switch the fans on to medium speed. That way as soon as the car hits 207 the fans will always come on at medium speed. What do you guys think? I was thinking this would be better then the stock set up anyway. Will disconnecting one of the fan relays and the thermoswitch from the harness cause any computer problems? Thanks.

Try installing a 180 F thermostat. Check out the link below.

Thats how I have my fans wired with the Miata switch, when the fans turn on they only run at Med speed. You just need to connect the ground wires from relays 2,4 to 3, I figured why do I need low speed fans when med will cool quicker.Plus I installed a SR rad my car runs so much cooler than stock the differance is night and day.

Sounds like it'll work, but do you really want to have a temporary solution for something as critical as the cooling system? You might, what do i know

I already have a 180f thermostate. I am thinking of putting in a flexalite duel fan set up as sonn as I have the money, but until then I will give this a try. I have my miata thermoswitch waiting for me at the dealer and will pu tit in on friday. Where exaclty is the thermoswitch located. I have the factory service manual off the net and in my copy it is hard to see exactly which one it is.
