What do you guys do for insurance coverage values
here's my story, i had regular ol AAA comprehensive on a '93 touring 57k miles:
car totaled, offered me 12-14k (cant remember), with printouts of KBB and auto trader ads for 100+k mileage ones prices at 10k.
called them back, with the OTHER ads on auto trader going for 20+k
"but sir, these cars have 20,000 miles on them"
"yes ma'am, but mine definitely didn't have 100!" there were no comparable mileage ones specifically listed, but i knew it was more than 14k
plus, 99 spec front/tails, 300rwhp reliability mods +powerfc
"sir you realise that modifying your car can depreciate its value?"
"ma'am, have you seen the car??"
"no i haven't......"
at which point, she set up an appraiser to take a look at it, which after accounting for MODS (except the power fc) they appraised it at 21,xxx, and payed it out
this was in 2009

To close the book on this story I went with Hagerty for an agreed value of 20k. For only 650 a year. About what I was paying Allstate. In fact my Allstate agent booked it for me as I assume the two companies have some sort of relationship. Allstate uses Hagerty for classic car coverage...etc
