What to do with my HEAVILY modded FD???

Wow, its been atleast a year or two since I have posted on here. Some of you may remember my car. Here's the situation, I bought my '93 FD in '01 bone stock and cought the mod bug bad... I started my own business shortly after modding out my car. I need to do something with the car because I just don't have the time for it that I once did. I will either sell the car complete, or part it out.

The problem is that I havent been keeping up to date on the RX7's marketplace. Financially I need to know which option would be better for me. Currently the car is running, but it needs tuning with the fuel system. I could use the quick cash parting it out would provide me, but with that comes time and work. It would probably take a while to sell the car complete. Any ideas what I could sell the car for complete?

Pics of the car can be seen on Rotaryextreme.com Click on third gen, Aerokit, Rotary Extreme Aero Products, then click on the Silver FD below *new AD9 sideskirts

I could be missing a few things from this mod list, its been a long time since I tried to remember them all.

Parting out a car isn't quick or easy. It's a lot of work, and when you are done, you have a bunch of stuff you cant sell. You also have a shell that you have to haul away.

Do the RX7 community (and yourself) a favor ......... sell the car

well if you have stock parts also,
the best way is to part it out and sell the car close to stock as possible
but if not i can always trade you stock parts plus cash because you have many goodies on that car people might need

It is a pain however I think you'd make more money parting it out. But it is a shame to see a non crashed car parted out.

well its going to be parted out for start parts correct?
so its not actually that bad. only for the new owner which must be told the car was heavily moded and put back to stock

Part it out and sell the chassis to someone doing a v8 swap.

Maybe sell the hood seperately and leave the other bodywork on the chassis and see if you can get more for it and the wheels or dunno.

you'll lose more money selling the car as a whole than parting it out..but then again, you lost out already by modding the car..you cant get that back, thats the downside to modifications..

i would sell the aftermarket parts and get some of that money back, put the stock parts back on and sell the car..

Nice looking car. It would be a shame to dissect it, in my opinion.

I say keep it and update her. But if you are going to sell it I would like the rims . Since you don't have a lot of time I guess that you don't really have time to part it. So you are better off selling the car as it is. Trust me some one would buy it. If I had the cash I would. Just don't sell her to a kid that have no idea.

For max $, parting is the way to go.

It's sad, but you just won't recover the part value as added value to the car. If you can part AND restore to stock to sell, that's the BEST route.

Thanks for all the input guys, I had forgot what an informative active forum this is.

I'm still weighing out my options, I do have some time where I may be able to part it out.

If someone could PM me to discuss what I'm looking at selling these parts used over the forum or Ebay, it would be appreciated.

THis is exactly what I did with my old car. Its really hard to sell a heavly modded car because you custom built it for your liking and also the price will be higher selling it stock. YOu can sell stuff fast, jsut depends on your prices. You'll sell it faster by parting it out. Put the stock turbos back on with the stock ecu and exhaust. Sell all your single stuff and maybe your rims too. Put stock rims back on. Leave the body kit on and sell it as that for a decent price.

Hope that helps, I know what your going through and its a pain in the butt.

^Hey I live in bonita springs, only about 30 mins away, If you do part it I would be able to get up their and buy somethings off of you without you having to go through shipping.

Think about what your time is worth when you decide shipping prices. If you part it out, you're going to be uninstalling and shipping. I removed some aftermarket parts from my previous car before trading it in, and it took longer than I anticipated.
