Don't forget your car. And your Fruit Loops driver's license.

18" chrome rims and this guy is your "friend"?

Im assuming u have a Stock FD. The VR4's are awd right guys? he will take you off the line but in the higher gears u will take him because his power is distributed to all 4 wheels. ALthough some other people on this forum know a whole lot more than me.

VR4s are AWD. He will probably get the jump on you but since you are lighter catching up wont be much of a problem. If your unsure get a Downpipe, Catback, and Intake. That way no ECU upgrade and some extra power.

Even though it is AWD, you shouldn't lose by much from a stop. Learn the limits of your tires and you should win. The VR4 sucks top gears. If he can't get far away from you in 1st gear, you should have no problem pulling away from him

speaking of tire limits...what do u usually launch at? I have found that holding it at 2k then feathering it out will spin them but not by much. Then just let 1st gear take over and have 2nd eat them up.

I look at it this way... A 3000GT VR-4 is almost (or maybe more than) 1000lbs heavier than an FD3S RX-7... 320hp vs 255hp stock for stock... You do the math.

That is, of course, not including the driver's skill in the equation...

I had non-sequentials and usually launched at 4500rpm with a 11.5# flywheel. You just have to slip the clutch enough so you won't get wheel spin, not too slow or you will burn your clutch. Takes alot of practice to master it

man o man. have faith in the car. well you just need skills. doesnt take much to launch in a VR4. take a look at these two pages. granted these are PRO driven.
stock FD=13.5 1/4 mile
stock VR4=14.2 1/4 mile

http://www.supercars.net/cars/1998@$Mitsubishi@$3000GT%20VR4.html

http://www.supercars.net/cars/1995@$Mazda@$RX-7.html
its that simple

Actually a 6 speed VR4 will be a better match for a stock FD than a older 91-93 VR4 with only 300 hp. Top gears - you're all over him - race him from 60 or 70 punch to ensure a victory - get a dp, intake, and exhaust as mentioned above and you mght not lose that much from a launch either and then blow by him

Talking I have one...

I have a 92 stealth TT, I ran a 12.91 @ 108 w/ intake and exhaust @ 14 psi. I had a 60' time of 2.0(really crappy launch, I SUCK) I just though I would chime in and give you a idea of what your going against You can read times all day in the magazines. But this one is real. Im not too firmiliar w/ the Rx-7's drag time but im sure the 98 wouldnt be too much of a problem to beat. Throw some toluene in that bi#$h and turn the boost up a little
I am going to sell this car in about 2-3 mo and get a black FD :-)
Thanks
Brandon
