i've got Magnecore 8.5s in my car at the momment. i don't know if i wanna go down to 360 though... like everyone else, i want loads of power and no lag... i know that's not gonna happen. i still wanna hit that 400 mark and a single looks so much nicer under the hook, less clutter, etc. i didn't think i'd be able to get over 350 though with the stocks below 15psi. i guess i have alot more research to do than i thought i did.

also, i'm planning on going single when my stockers go instead of rebuilding them... my neighbor (he knows who he is) has had lots of probs with rebuilds and i'd rather just go new as a result. plus, since the cost of new twins isn't "too much" less than a new single... what the heck right?

Slightly off topic - how is the car driveable with a single turbo, pushing over 400rwhp ? I mean - there isn't much power under 4k RPM, is it ? So it must be horrible for street driving. But then again... you can always downshift

remember, you should be getting at least 100-150hp without a turbo and thats more then some civics so it should be fine. Unless you wanna be able to race from street light to street light, it should not be a problem. If lag is too much for you in the end, just shoot a bit of nitrous to make up for it, a nice little 50-75 shot should be good just have it programed to go off/taper off at about 3-4krpm

i hope you got money to burn. it starting to sound like a expensive plan.
I own a t78 and i dont think the lag is bad at all. I think too many people just like to assume without experiancing it. Yes a smaller turbo is gonna spool up faster but its also not gonna make as much power. With power comes a trade off. The same goes for fast spooling turbos, with quicker spool you have to trade power off.

wait! wait! wait!

here we are talking about all this hp but we fail to mention the clutch. gotta upgrade the clutch if we're gonna put down all that hp. and while the clutch is being redone you gotta put in a light weight fly wheel.

doing all these mods cant go cheap now!

You should look up vosko's dyno graph. He didnt REALLY make 459, that was just a hp spike from some breakup that made his readings go crazy. His real hp was around 420

A good turbo for you would be a 62-1, its a good low pressure turbo that should put you right at 400rw with 15-16psi of boost. In addition they are cheap and rebuildable. It'll also spool up nice with a 1.0 turbine side and a P trim wheel. If you call Bryan at BNR he can tell you all about it, he has on one his car, its an excellent street turbo

Ah but there are two of those to choose from
the RX6A TCW-76 is the one rated for 400 and then there is the bigger brother RX6B TCW-77 which has a bigger exhuast side that can flow up to 550 and still retain an insane spool.
Whats that other turbo kit A-spec sells that spools just as fast as the RX6 but doesn't cost a small fortune like the apexi turbos?

I would say go with the efini twins or BNR stage 3 if you want a some what cheaper turbo upgrade. Do some other milid mods and you can get around 380ish at the wheels if done right.

Jason,

I think he's referring to the PSI number. As the boost climbs on the T-78, the turbo get's in it's "zone" and really makes the car "fun"

i have a clutch on my shopping list, i just forgot to mentino it there... thanks for point that out though. where can i find info on these RX6's? what about that 62-1? again, i really appreciate all the info here guys, please keep it coming

am i being stupid/limiting myself with the 15psi? i plan on dropping in a reman with 3mm seals (possibly a port, but for emissions reasons (i've heard porting makes it even harder to pass) i think i'll keep a stock port). if i got a smaller turbo, which is what that 62-1 sounds too be (fast spool) and bumped it up to like 18psi would i get good power early, reach my hp goal, and not kill my engine?

the only problem with the rx6 turbo is that the kit is like over 5k. Thats kind of expensive seeing how you could get a gt35/40 for around 3900 or a t78 kit for around 3300 or you can get a TO4s kit for around 3000. If you want to make them numbers and not work your turbo and motor too much, i would recommend at least a small port, like a mild street port.

hello, ok, you mean we can get 360-385 out of the twins right? how much boost are you talking about? i definitely wanna outrun a porche GT2,

my mods so far are FMIC, Airfilters, 3 1/2 exaust, BOV, aftermarket radiator, elbow, and some more but not in enginebay, so please tell me how i can get 360-385 boss!

Well, FIRST OFF: I wouldn't recommend driving at those leves all the time. But, to have a higher boost setting for racing is ok..

Most of the credit for numbers like this go into tuning. A ported motor will make it much easier though..

For those numbers I'd recommend at least, but not limited to:

Fuel pump
Larger secondaries (Some have done similar numbers with 4 850's)
Full exhaust
Boost controller @14psi (again, I recommend driving daily on no more than 12)
Ported wastegate (To control boost)
Intercooler (You have that)
Intake (You have that)
Apexi Power FC (Can be done with the PMS, but PFC is more popular among tuners..)
A good tuner

It can be done. Tune tune tune.

Here is a list of what you need for 400 RWHP.
We have done this setup many times.

Single Turbo Upgrade : For example XS T04S
Intercooler Upgrade
Nippondenso Pump
1300cc Injectors
Apex Power FC + Tuning
Catback Exhaust
Ignition Upgrade - AEM etc..
Midpipe

That is a base setup that would cost around $6900 for parts and labor would be around $1000.

My suggestion to people considering a package like that is to live close to a good Rotary shop that can support the car. I have too many customers that have to tow their cars here from hundreds of miles away to get work done.

You dont have to run a boost controller. You can go off the wastegate spring.

Tuning would be an extra $300
