What did I get myself into?

Anyone else ever see this?
I pulled the downpipe and the front turbo's hotside compressor wheel fell out...... No wonder it made a noise and smoked, oil was being just dumped into the exhaust. I dumped like half a quart of oil out of the exhaust manifold.

Also the front hub bolt..... was loose..... Crap.
Friend tried to turn over the motor with a breaker bar and all it did was tighten it. It was about 1/2 turn loose....
Think the thrust bearings shot?

DAMN!!!

Well if you can't turn the motor, odds are, an apex seal rolled, and has locked it's self in a port, or inbetween the rotor/housing (<most likely!)

And being that the front turbo took the damange, I'm willing to bet that one of the seals on the front rotor has taken a **** on you!

Yikes, sounds like you have yourself a nice project.

http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

"If you think your engine may already have the bearing down, and the engine has been run, first check to see if you have ANY end float. This is the amount the eccentric / pulley / flywheel will move front to back. Spec is .0015" to .0028" - not much at all, but some. If you have absolutely NO float, you have a problem."

The motor turns over, its a little tight, but gives a good solid puff per exhaust port.
The seals show no damage durring visual inspection per ports.

I have not been able to measure the play, but its what it on my to do list .

Good luck man, its sad that my car has been down so long already and your project has just begun, yet I know yours will probably be running before mine.

Well generaly its blown oil control rings on the rotor.

In my case, me and my bro determined that after cranking the car so many times, and basicly the turbos just pumping oil directly into the exhaust, that it was flooding the motor with oil. I think its fine. I have to check the end play though.

I realized like 2 days ago.... the damn presure sensor wasent even connected.

Funny thing about that oil pressure connector, its identical to the switcihng wire for the starter and runs off the starters harness... I always had to jump the starter on my car while I was still wiring things up and while I was running the motor I realized that the oil pressure guage was all the way at max so I shut it off and low and behold the wiring was switched... the colors in my wiring manual didnt match so I easily mixed them after that.
