What a day! If its not one thing, its another!

So, it was Saturday afternoon, nice day, nice weather, my car has been at RPM Motorsports and its all done as planned.

Car looks great, its been dropped, my new transmission is in, everything inside looks great, no problems.

Well, there is a problem, but I forgot about it, since the car has not been driven in a long while.

I need to change my brakes! So I am driving home from Kitchener, and I am on the 401 East.

All of a sudden I hear this noise, sounds like a helicopter! But I look up and see nothing, I am only going 125, so I doubt its that copper chopper.

Then I realize when I try and brake, I hear noises from the back right brake!

I get to Brampton, and what do I find? My Rotor is torn up, and cracked all the way up the middle!!

I take two steps forward! three steps back! The nice smell of metal on metal! I love it. If I was not already awake, that would have woken me up pronto!

So next project, new brakes!

Gosh.

Be happy you had some left to stop . It would have been a shame to have another "I crashed my FD thread," but more importantly you're okay. Now take care of those brakes Mr.!

that sucks there is nothing worse than being stuck on the side of the road with a fast car.

You knew prior to taking the car to a shop that you needed brakes, didnt decide to do it while it was there, picked up the car after OTHER misc stuff was installed, continued to drive it, then one day decided to do 125 and complained that if its not one problem, its another?

Wow, forget about the car, be glad you're alive today.

Even if its "only" 125kph, thats almost 80mph and thats still fast enough to die with failed brakes.

you know it could have been worse, i was installing new brake pads in the rear of my car.....bolted my caliper back up, well kinda....

decided to take a break and have a smoke, came back and put the wheel back on

went for a spin, the lower rear caliper bolt fell out so when i braked, the caliper spun up and grinded inside my wheel, knocked off my valve stem, blew the tire and scratched the **** out of the inside of my wheel..

yeah, that was a hell of a day....i just got those wheels too, gram light pro 57s, brand new

SCRATCHED

I knew I should get new pads put on. I did not realize they were that bad, obviously enough for one to hit metal on metal.

All of my other brakes were working fine, just that one got damaged.

It happens I guess.

It was 125 KM/H not Miles.

Anyways I tried to take a pic but not coming out well.
I will take them when the brakes are fixed, the rotor is all shreded up.

Anyways.. quite the day.

that sucks, but on the plus side I can't believe that it's nice enough to have you car out in the GTA area... the roads here are still freezing up over night!!
I't easy to forget about things that need to get done, especially if you haven't driven it for the entire winter. hell if all the snow was gone tommorow, I might try and back out the car and forget it's on jack stands.. haha

most guys who own fast car go over 100mph just for fun, but what they fail to know is that 100 plus mph are dangerous speed levels. you need to prepare your car and go over the suspension, alignments and take the minor details under consideration like worn bushings and such because when your car fails you at 100+mph is not easy keep control. I know first hand what it feels to loose control at 100mph. Unless i am 100% confident on my car`s suspension i wouldn't go over 80.

If that rotors would have completely broke off and lock that wheel at 125mph you would be in trouble.

^^he does not live in the states... He was going 125KPH.

But still, BRAKES are probably one of the MOST important systems in any "go fast" toy. Good to know you are taking care of the problem. And I would LOVE to see those pics of the rotor!!

+1
definitely have to agree. a car can have all the horsepower in the world but if you can't control it, it doesn't mean a damn thing.

as for the orginal poster.....glad you didn't have to make an emergency stop and have the rotors split on you locking up a rear wheel (even worst when it is only one wheel) you would have been spinning out of control
