Question What clutch do you recomend?

I went to the track for the first time today. My first 2 runs my clutch stuck and was barely even moving in 3rd gear. I went through the traps at 79 mph. Make a long story short my clutch sucks and I was wondering which clutch you guys have. I was looking at ACT street or 6 puck. Please tell me your experiances. THANKS

act six puck is better for racing, act street is better for normal driving. i personally love my six puck clutches. some people can't handle the harshness though.

Both the Clutchmaster stage 5 Drag and the ACT Drag only are EXCELLENT clutches, but they provided only limited streetability due to their on/off feel.

I personally have the OS Giken Twin Plate and LOVE IT!!! It has enough holding power for a single turbo, yet it's VERY streetable....of course the $2000 price tag tends to scare people away

As far as I've seen, the ACT clutches are the best bang for the buck clutch...so here's another post to support it!

I've run the stock, ACT HD, and the ACT Extreme, all with the OEM disk. The stock clutch held to about 300rwhp and proably would have held up longer on the street if it weren't for my drag abuse. The HD didn't last one night at the strip (we think the PP was defective) so I went with the Extreme. It's Ok. I think the limiting factor is the OEM disk (duh) but if you're doing street work and you want your tranny to last, solid hub disks are a bit much. The solution? I'd run one of the Clutchmaster sprung hub full face (level 3?) disks with the ACT pressure plate. I have NO experience with the CM pressure plate so I can't comment on it. The ACT Extreme works very well however. I know CM also makes a sprung hub segmented disk as well. Someone in Ft. Lauderdale did just such a swap recently and said he was quite happy with it.

it all depends how you drive. i beat on my TII with the act full race setup. never had one problem. it had over 50 passes at the drag strip. every pass had pro drag style burnout. during the runs chirped every gear i can't say enough how great the clutches are. usually you will break axles before trannies

I race at the track only occasionally when I get new parts. I definately need it to br reliable. I was thinking ACT 6 puck. Is it too harsh on the tranny?

Your problem might not be the clutch, but the third gear syncro. When I first got my FD, you had to shift into third at ~5500rpm because otherwise it would lag its way up to 1000rpm after about 15 seconds. I'm still running the stock clutch though, so I don't know if that would help as well.
