Question What is causing the rear of my car to sit so high?

I have a FD roller with aftermarket wheels (Enkei RPF1's 17X9 +45 all around). I know that there should/will be a good gap from the wheels and nothing done to the suspension, but I wouldn't think it would be this high. Understandably, the front end is high due to the wheels and no motor (weight). However, the rear sits pretty high... more so than I would think it should.

The only other thing I can think of is the fact that my car doesn't have a rear diff right now. Would that be a possible cause of this?

I'll get some photos loaded this afternoon.

What suspension do you have on the car? You probably need to adjust your coilovers.

The rears do sit rather high on these cars as it is, and this is visually reinforced by how small the rear bumper cover is and the way the fenders slant upwards.

It has stock shocks and springs on it. The only modification to the suspension is M2 toe links and trailing arms.

It does, but I didn't think it would sit this high. I'm about to go snap some photos real quick. I'll upload them here real soon. Maybe a couple hours.

Not when done properly. The idea is to keep the same overall wheel+tire diameter. So basically if you increase your wheel size by 1", you remove 1" of sidewall. In essence, increasing wheel size for the most part does not change the gap.

ensure you have the correct tire size, that will give you your answer.
DL the JimLab Wheel & Tire Sizing spreadsheet...
http://www.wrex-racing.com/docs/fd/F...ire_Sizing.xls

Put in the diff, relocate battery, fill up your gas tank and if that doesn't work I have a JDM bag of cement I can sell you to store in the hatch.

lmao wow! I laughed pretty good at that... at least u can go muddin now.haha

that does not look normal at all.... i have stock suspension and aftermarket 17's the tires are just slightly taller then stock. the gap is about an inch and a half i can fit my pointer and middle finger in and no more. Definitely not my whole hand!

The size is correct. I got the wheels from Rishe. In fact, I had these same wheels on my previous roller and they didn't look too out of the norm (other than the motor being out)

No real answer yet. Just wait until you get the motor and everything else in the car. The rear is also supporting weight of the motor so it will go down as well when everything is installed. However, a stock FD does sit higher than most people like these days. Here's a shot of my buddy's old car on the stock suspension:

Wake up! Your dog has a hidden life. He's a secret bulimic. You need to deal with his issues.

I have the answer. You bought the 4wd version FD. Very rare, and not particularly sought after

Blah!

Anymore serious input? I guess I'll just wait until I get the rear diff back and the motor in. I know I'll need some kind of suspension change with these wheels anyway; At least some lowering springs.
