what causes idling?

hey guys as some of you know, my car was recently flooded (water) when the strongest typhoon in the last 10 years hit japan. I finally got my car starting again and theres been lots of white smoke which smells like fuel and also lots and lots of steam coming from the exhaust and turbo area!!!!! this should clear away by now.

My question is what sensors cause idling in the FD. The car will start but it wont idle. Ive heard theres a idle switch or something behind the UIM but the water did not reach that. The ecu did however get wet.

Anyhelp would be appreciated, im inbetween cleaning my house, motorbikes and cars. Although i shoud consider myself lucky, northern Japan got hit with a earthquake and dertroyed some areas.

ok next quetion is are the 93-95 model ecus the same???
mines a 95 model, it still the 255hp model though, but its a upgrade from the 94. some small subtle changes in the dash which is all i can see.

yes whoever is up there is not happy with Japan at the moment. This year alone ive been through many many typhoons, earthquakes and torrential flooding. Theres been volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

Thanks guys, ill get the ecu in there asap.

actually... I'd say that 91-95 ecus should be interchangeable (workable) - not necessarily the same

Before you go through the expense of buying a new ECU, why don't you first try removing and drying out the old one? (something like a heat lamp aimed at it to dry all of the board)
