Before anything, I'm drunk. But still,, I think the 2jz swap is awesome. That's one of the best engines ever produced. It can take a hell of a lot of boost, it can do it reliably, but it'll take a lot of money. I like that swap better than the LSx swap, just because it's still a Japanese engine. I'd still rather build up the 13brew, or maybe swap in a 20b, but that's your choice.

i dont know how much ls1 swaps cost? but as far as the 2j swap it will cost me 8500 if i have the shop install it or 7500 for the swap package. price includes:

motor with 6 month warranty on long block
wiring harness,ecu,ignitor
1jz tranny
modded crossmember
motor mounts
tranny mounts
driveshaft
fmic with 3"modded piping
modded exhaust
255lph fuel pump
and any other small part im forgetting

these are turn key swaps. so i dont think thats too bad of a price to drop it in. now i know that their are going to be unexpected expenses but what project doesnt have those.

good luck, I have yet to see a truly FUNCTIONAL 2JZ swap, just a lot of bullshit being thrown around. That engine is too high and too long to truly fit into the FD engine bay....an LS-X is a much better engine swap from a balance standpoint.

I hope you are looking for a salvage or roller FD. No sense in destroying one in good condition just to gut it out for this. And like someone said, to do the modifications you are talking about, you are looking at $30k MINIMUM, not counting the purchase price.

probably will be a clean title drivable fd. but dont worry i will either do one of thee things with the motor.

1)rip it apart and rebuild it so i can learn more about rotorys
2)give it to a friend with a 87 non turbo.
3)sell it

Stuck on a 2jz. Great engine, just not for the FD engine bay.

I was very happy that someone "saw the light" at first, but now, i have two things to say. One: That describes my opinion of you perfectly.

and two: GTFO!

I'm sorry guys, but this guy got his attitude all wrong, and i think what will happen is, he will thrash a good car, and put another coveted FD into a wall, or worse, into someone else! I don't know , but I would hate to see this on the news:
"A pregnant wife and her husband were almost killed today by an out of control Mazda sports car." Wouldn't you?

Well, there goes my opinion, feel free to flame my ***, but its a vew point, not a fact, so maybe we can treat it as such?

Buy an FC. More plentiful, cheaper, larger engine bay.
