See pics. Fits great, I've had zero issues with battery for the last year. I have an ASP/M2 medium intercooler too (with stock battery tray). Cranks my motor just like the OEM sized battery did. Coldest temps have been 30-40 F during the winter. Warmest in high 90s.

 

Have been using my (relocated) Westco for two years now and it is working well.

 

FYI, I've had my PC680 since 2005 (mounted in my engine bay), and it's finally starting to show its age. During that time, the car saw some daily driver duty in 100 F summer heat, and quite a few short trips in 50F weather. During all that time, the only time the battery acted up was when the car sat for more than a few weeks at a time.

This year, I'm driving the RX-7 less and it's noticeably worse. If I let the car sit for over a week without driving it will be hard to start. After two weeks of sitting it's pretty much a guarantee it won't start. The car starts without problems if driven more than once per week. I picked up a trickle charger for about $20, I just charge the battery if I plan to let the car sit for a while.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with my PC680, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who didn't have another car for a daily-driver, or to anyone with an aftermarket stereo system.

 

I have been using a Braille Auto carbon no weight battery for quite some time now. Has been working great, a lot of the guys over at the corvette club I have seen use the daily use no weight standard battery. All of brailles battery's can be seen here Braille

I just put the same battery in my FD. I used a TurboJeff tray. So far I've been pretty happy, but then my car always starts on first crank.

 

I just wanted to note that if you DO decide to relocate you battery to the bins, you probably won't be able to track your car.

Something about 40lb acid-filled bricks flying around the passenger compartment.

 

Depends on what battery you use and how you relocate it. I haven't had a problem using an Optima red top in the passenger side bin properly mounted. Last event was with NASA.

 

if u are planning to buy optima yellow top 51R.. my local costco has them a low low price of 140!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was thinkin about gettin since it so much cheaper than other places out there

after comparing the stats it looks like the adventure power might be a better replacement then the odyessy pc680. Its like half the cost and almosttwice the cranking amps and 2 lbs lighter. But this is all on paper, i might be willing to be a guinea pig.

Over the years on my various RX7's, I have used batteries from 4 lb gel cells to odyssey to Optima’s. While I am a firm quality believer and the saying “you get what you pay for” .. I have decided with batteries that, go small, go cheap because none of them last be it $40 or $180 dollars and at 40 I can by 4 and get 5 – 6 years life versus 1 to 1.5 years

 

Yellow top optima is the best way to go.

 

I've had my PC680 since 2004 went through 3 winters and still running strong, I even have a system in my car and never had any problems, the trick is to not to have any type of alarm system that will draw power while park, I just made a fuel cut switch for safety.

I also diconnected the factory alarm so when the car is off there is nothing drawing power from the battery

 

These are back in stock now and I just bought one for myself. After a quick glance this battery looks good on paper, and I couldn't pass it up for $63 with free shipping.

Then after I finished the checkout process I found a side-by-side review someone had done with the Odyssey PC680. Turns out the adventure power battery is slightly taller (not by much... maybe a cm) and has pretty shallow threaded terminals. Oh well...

I'll take some pics when it shows up. I have never handled a true odyssey pc680 so I won't really be able to compare the two.

Hah, well.... I only have about 10 miles of driving and maybe 10 starts since I installed the battery. I just haven't had any time for the car recently, and it needs more work to be road worthy.

But the battery seems to work OK. It started the car just fine, but I haven't started it in any really cold weather. I also use a battery tender and disconnect the negative terminal whenever the car is parked for an extended period of time.

My biggest complaint is with the terminals. Instead of the M6 threaded terminals they sent me one with terminals like this:

I didn't feel like dealing with returning the battery and unfortunately the terminals are permanently installed (no way to change them), so I rigged something up to work with the new ones. Considering the negative reviews of the shallow threaded terminals, maybe this isn't such a bad thing.

 

I agree 100%! I've gone through three batteries in that many years (Optimas to Kragens), and now I feel "go cheap or go home!" (cause they don't last!)

So a little history on my battery ventures. I started with my 1982 FB with a 450 CCA battery. I quickly killed that battery, as it was walmart special cheapie battery. The second battery that I bought was an Optima Red Top. 800CCA. Dead in 4 months. Then I bought my Exide Orbit battery. 850 CCA. It lasted for 2 months with repeatedly trying to start a motor with 45/45/45 compression on both rotors. Then it sat for about 18 months and it was used to start my buddies old ford truck with a 351. Started it right up. Yesterday I went to start my car after it sat for over 2 months with a bad rear end. My battery that I had in my 1985 was dead from listening to music while I was working on my car, so I figured what the hell, i'll try my deep cycle. Put it in and turned the key, the motor started after only 2 revolutions of the engine. The batteries are pricey at about $180, but WELL WORTH IT.
