Kinda neat, but I'd rather stick to a quality name brand product than something off-brand on Ebay. DEI makes quality products (Viper, etc.). It's involved to install an alarm, and I'd rather do it once with a quality product than come back and have to rip it out and do it over.

I have clifford / viper (DEI) with paging. I have it on both of my FD's and my daily. Its a great system! Remote start, paging, keyless entry, turbo timer (great when I leave something inside the house and I don't have to shut my car off to use my house key, just put the turbo timer on and take the keys out of ignition). Most place wouldn't put remote start on 5 sp.. I had to sign a waiver and make sure NO ONE sits inside your FD. I have 2 incidents when I let someone sit inside and they put it into a gear. When I tried to remote start it, it bounced across and almost hit this guys car. Second time, I let the Mazda salesrep sit inside and one of the guy put it in 1st. My car almost went into the show room.
I also don't recommend remote start if you have a habit of putting in gear.
I also agree with Dale, Don't get some cheap alarm. I've had several in my lifetime and been a big fan of Clifford (now own by DEI). Having the same unit on 3 of my cars, I could tell you that it was reliable and worth every penny!

I actually really think that the one Sam (autodoodad.com) posted is cool....

I am going to wait and see if any others try it out first. It would have been nice to have this around Thanksgiving since someone stole about $4k of my a/v equip out of my Excursion!

Best system like the ones that takes pics would be to go full carputer with back up power with internet based security monitoring system w/ wireless card. I've seen one for Mac computers where it records 10 secs prior to visual movement and email you the image or save it on remote server.
