what`s more important for exhaust , pipe diameter .. or muffler fow rating?

i am trying to determine what muffler will suit my car best ,and which way to go about this :

here is my car
stock twins
stock ports
pettit ecu
upgraded inter cooler ( similar to pettit medium )
stock fuel ( rewired 2nd stage so pump gets full V at WOT )
3" downpipe ,
3" midpipe with 3" cat ( magnaflow spun flow metallic cat )
stock rear muffler
boosting around 12 -13
ported wastegate
2 manual boost controllers

i wan to make 300-320 WHP ( ~ 600 cfm according to the 1.92 * WHP rule )

i h8 the way apexi n1 mufflers look ... and i don`t want to spend on a racingbeat , and i dotn want loud as much as possible
i want to keep a stock looking muffler ( oval without shiny tips ...)

from what i read the stock rear muffler flows aroun 275 CFM ....and doubling the flow would haflen the back pressure so ... min 550 CFM ratingi am looking for

my dilemma is the following :
btw here are the catalogs for reference
http://www.dynomax.com/ecat/pdfs/superturbo.pdf
http://www.dynomax.com/ecat/pdfs/ultrafloss.pdf

i am looking at :
1.dynomax super turbo 17740 crossflow model ( 3"in ...dual 2.25 out ) rated at 600 CFM [top of page 3]
2.dynomax ultraflow SS 17283 side-center ( 2.5" in/out ) rated at 1075 [middle of page 2 ]
also according to Dynomax , i know this has been a concern in the past , the continuous fiberglass filling will withstand up to 820 C or 1500 Fahrenheit )

option 1 : do a 3" catbackline to a super turbo 17740
option 2 : cut the stock muffler off the stock line and weld the 17283 in it`s place
option 3 : do a 3" catback with a reducer to 2.5" then weld the 17283
option 4 : anyone know other muffler such as a 3 inch in with 2x2.25 outlets that are not that far appart ?
option 5 : any other suggestions/combination that make sense ?

what are the advantage/disadvantages fo these options

thx for reading

any imput would be apreciated

doubling the flow would cut the back pressure in half?

1: I wouldn't use any exhaust that has fiberglass in it, the rotary's exhaust gases simply get too hot, but I may be wrong about it being damaged.
2: Not real sure about fiberglass.
3: Again, not real sure about fiberglass.
4: I don't know about them being 2.25" across, but there are multiple exhaust systems with dual outlets. Kakimoto Twin, Apex'i N-1 Dual, Racing Beat Dual, SMB Dual, FEED Sonic AS-V, RE Amemiya Twin Dolphin Tail, or the rare St. May Shotgun exhaust, just to name a few.

Look at the Magnaflow and Borla stainless mufflers. I'd do a 3" inlet and use a 2.5" to 3" adaptor if you must use the stock piping.

Why not look into a Greddy catback? Very high quality and more than sufficient for those power levels. I think you're overthinking this too much, personally

the main reason for which i want to stay with a low key ... oem`ish looking muffler is that cops in my are are EXTREMLY Attracted to shiny objects and big tips ... as soon as they see one .. they pull you over and ticket you for not having OEM muffler
if it were not for this i would have installed an N1 style long ago and not worry about anything

thx for the input

i may have found something , once i have my setup all done .. ill post pics and cost and vids and all kinds of stuff

I'll be looking foward to see this, I want to get an aftermarket catback for my FD this summer, and the RB dual tip is pretty expensive, even if it is indeed awesome. I also want a sotck'ish' look and sound with better flow. If you find a cheaper, good looking and good sounding alternative to the RB dual tip, let me know!

If you really want to be happy go for a high flow cat in the midpipe and the Racing Beat catback. Together they're not loud and sound VERY classy...

He's trying to avoid buying a Racing Beat because of the cost.

Well considering the dollar, your not really being cheap, if you were to buy a new one + shipping + customs would probably be around $1,000 CAD, ouch. I might sell mine if I decide to change my exhaust but I don't really want the noise so ionno...

Honestly I think the single tip looks much better than duals but that is me personally. I think the thing that attracts cops is the canister style exhausts which are so common on Civics and the like.

Stop trying to tear your head apart looking for something to save a few bucks. Our exchange rate will change eventually hehe. Meanwhile there are many places that make single tip muffles that aren't canister style and many of them are very very low profile. FWIW, my Greddy SP made less noise than the OEM muffler with the stock cat and a Pettit DP.

Some interesting alternatives that won't have cops pulling you over every five minutes are:

Greddy SP
Tanabe Touring Medallion
Tanabe Super Medallion Hyper spec (essentially the same as the touring except the tip isn't a "dual wall" looks less classy)
HKS Street Legamax (which looks awesome)
Blitz Nur Touring Spec (also a very classy muffler)

All have piping sizes that flow well.

Check for sale forums

I got lucky and found a used RB dual-tip in very good condition for $400 US shipped last spring. So, check any for-sale forums regularly. If you import a used one, you can usually get around the duty $ required to import a new one by just giving it a nominal low value for shipping.
