Question Were there FD R1s and R2s in 1993??

I read somewhere in this forum that the R1 and R2 model FDs did not come out until 1994. Can't find it now, but sure notice that all of sudden, most of the 93 FDs For Sale are R1s. I have a 93 FD with dual oil coolers and beefed up factory suspension. I was told they were add-on options for 1993, whereas they were incorporated into the R1 an R2 models in 94. Can someone clear this up for me?

In 93, the "performance" package was the R1.
In 94/95, it was called the R2.
