Went to track today
I went to etown today for the import vs domestic event.
My times havent gone up and i cant see why.
Last time i ran at 12psi with a SLIPPING clutch and ran:
r/t .881
60' 1.98
1/4 12.577
mph 112.32
I since have upgraded the clutch to the act street strip and 9.5 flywheel. Today i ran 14psi. Although my mph has gone up, I was thinking that i would trap greater then 115mph...but i didnt. It was hot as hell today. My intake temps were high. But I really cant seem to understand why i am not trapping 117mph like alot of you guys do with the same mods that i have. Was it the heat today, or tuning, or my launch (wasnt the greatest..i need to learn this flywheel)...or is it the flywheel itself..or what?
One thing i did learn about this flywheel is that it is more important to run it till redline as the rpms fall faster with it, even in a race environment...you were right SPOautos. So i guess tuning way up top plays an even greater roll when running a light wieght flywheel. Anyways...
r/t 1.423
60' 2.097
330 5.456
1/4 12.537
mph 114.43
I did let off alittle in first gear...not fully let off just backed off for a sec due to wheel spin...i run regular street tires.
Granted i could have got a low 12 had my 60' time been better but i am more concerned with my trap speed....what do you guys think?
Anyways the event was pretty cool. It was actually pretty funny. All the hatch back turboed civics where spanking down all the LS1's. The hondas were running low to mid 13s while the LS1's were running mid to high 13s. The guy i had drove down with has an 01' ws6 with intake and exhaust...his best was only a 13.75 @ 103mph.
Vosko was around and hung out. I knew you would be there!
Most of you you know my setup but i know someone will ask:
full exhaust, intake, power fc, m2 med IC, 1300 cc inj, supra fuel pump. Stockj motor and twins.

umm...i really wasnt launching hard...i dont know...around 3500rpms. i was kinda slipping it. I was getting crappy traction...i even laid off a bit in 1 st gear...not fully...just backed off. It got me a 2.1 which sucks. i will try harder next time. Especially if i get some good racing rubber.
I run toyo proxes t1s at 26psi.

Well its really not all that bad. If you would have cut the same 60 foot that you did the 1st time it would have been in the 12.3 range @ 114. I ran a 12.3 @ 113 with intake, full exhaust, and PFC but if you'd cut my 60 foot of 1.89 you would have run a 12.1 @ 114....thats pretty damn good. You should be right around the 340rwhp range with that mph.
The only power mod you have extra (compared to what I had) was a IC and about 1psi extra boost. BUT it was cooler outside when I ran and I wasnt loosing rpms between shift because of the flywheel. All of that factors in a little here and there. The shift speed and staying in your powerband makes a big diff in mph
You get Steve to tune your car at 1.1psi (on the PFC)and see how it does lol. You dont have to run that high boost all the time but the diff in 14 and 16 is HUGE
BTW - dont let the flywheel bother you, I'm sure you'll like it a lot on the street and thats where you drive it 99% of the time anyway.

I think you mean 1.1 kg/cm^2 (~15.5psi) on the power fc, my man . 1.1 psi ain't pushin' much additional air
I agree with the lightweight flywheel opinion, too.....I love the hell out of mine on the street

Leave it to Rich to try and be teachers pet haha
Well its really 15.64 I was rounding but when the PFC is at 1.1 he really should be at 16ish in reality according to a mech gauge since the PFC is always low.
I noticed a big difference when going from just a hair under 1.0 to 1.1.....actually if felt like the turbos came into themselves once I got around the 1.1 area.
Oh yea, just so you know, yes I'm talking about when I was on the stockers. Eventhough the same holds true for the stage 3's.
