Went to change the fuel filter and......!?!?!

I got my 93 R1 about a month ago and one of the first things I really wanted to do was a fuel filter change. Last weekend, I decided to tackle this job and went for it. I was expecting this job to be a real b!otch. Then, come to find out, this yahoo previous owner decided to just remove the fuel filter and not replace it. So now I'm concerned that the injectors might be clogged. I do have some minor idling issues such as the idle not being consistent (sometimes it idles just above 1K, sometimes just under). Other than that, power is smooth throughout the rpm range and does not hesitate. I wonder now if I should just pull the injectors and have them sent out for a cleaning.

Its unlikely that the previous owner removed the fuel filter. It's more likely that he moved it to a more convenient location, making it easier to change filters. Follow the fuel line and see if it has been moved.

I was thinking the same thing, lots of people relocate it to the engine bay.

Nope, it really was removed. I thought of the same thing, and traced the fuel line from the tank all the way to the engine....nothing. The PO really was that much of a turd. It does not surprise me. When I got the car, it was so low that you could not drive it (well, you could, but when I took it home it scraped on every single bump on the road).

The unfortunate bit is that those types of owners are becoming more and more common as the prices of the cars go down. Be lucky you haven't had to deal with an FC
