Well, my car is now a project car

It's been an absolute battle to keep my 7 running right, replace the parts that are starting to go from natural wear(120,000miles), and still pay for the damn thing.
I just came back from KD, and the used turbos, that looked amazing when we put them in, are all done. The primary is just pouring oil into the intercooler, and out the blow off valve onto my front suspension. I have 4 more payments, and I own the thing. When I own it, I think i'm taking it off the road, thus saving insurance money($3,100 a year), and pooling all my money into a single turbo. I still might buy the M2's, but i'm thinking not.
I'm done ******* around. I think i'm going with the 35/40 that ASpec is selling. Again, i'm not positive, but i'm pretty damn sure. It's just going to be so much money(fuel system upgrades, intercooler, cpu, air pump to pass emissions) that i'm tripping a little. I'lll be better once I start the whole process. The only other single i'm considering is the RX6, and that's only because it will pass emmissions here. I know it won't quite make the power I want, but i'm just weighing all my possibilities.
This is all while I buy a Tien Coilover kit and find some rims. Stick a fork in me, I'm all done.
Just figured i'd vent a little.
I'm done.

Damn man, I don't understand how you guys pay that much for insurance! $3100!!! Holy crap! I bought my FD when I was 23 (1 1/2 years ago) and I pay $1100 per year for my FD and my daily beater. That's with $1K collision and comp on the FD and just liability on the db.

Good luck on your mods though. It's probably a good way to go for reliability.

And you have a '88 Monte SS? I love those cars, my step dad used to have one. Silver, T-tops, very sweet car.

He had the T-Tops? Very cool. Those seem to be rare. I really like my Monte. It's prety slow, but it's got style and attitude. It just looks mean. And, it has a trunk to carry RX7 parts in.
Yes, i'm looking for some reliability. Yes, I want some more power, but i'll sacrifice some of it for reliability.
You want to know why my insurance is so high? I used to be really drive fast all the time. I could never say no to a race, and I used to melt crosswalks all over town.
The crowning acheivment(or pinacle of stupidity) was getting nabbed for 160 in a 55. The only reason they caught me is because they had another cop 2 miles up. I mean, they pretty much let me off easy, but I still got a lot of points. I just went to court appologized, tried to downplay the speed factor, and was as nice as possible.
What saved me was that there was so many dead beats and real fuckups of humanity before me, that I looked like a saint. The cop was pissed that I got off easy, but the judge wanted me out of there.
I haven't had a ticket in a year now. If I can go one more year, my points will start coming down faster.

Alright Jim you'll be okay. Heres what you should do. Take it off the road for a little while. Don't know how you can go without driving the 7 but if thats what you want to do go for it. Anyway, but the M2 twin kit on and then put the GT 35/40 kit ontop of that and then the Rx6 turbo ontop of that. Then you should be set. Just make sure you have some serious fuel modifications to go along with all of that flow
good luck with whatever you do. Sometimes you just need to vent a little.

if yer in boston jim...we should meet up when i get my car here next week so you can see how the m2's perform against your car before you decide.

what you are wanting to do is what I did...i got tired of always doing stuff and pulled it off the road for almost a year (minus time to break in the new motor and m2 twins). when it is done you will be very happy....the cash you save by not driving it and beating it into the ground can then be spent on new parts and upgrades.

I was supposed to have my car in my hands yesterday but its now looking like next week. my year of building and tuning is finally over.

now...i pretty much have new EVERYTHING
