Well, look at what I found... :)

I went looking for the price on RP's 300M axles and guess what I found (towards the bottom of the page)...
http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fddrivetrain_rearend.html

Solid Differential Mount - $120.00/pair
http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/images/...unts_large.jpg

Interesting... look familiar?

BTW, my differential bushings are (and always have been) $90/pair shipped.

Do you think they're just reselling your parts, or did they reverse engineer them and have some made from your designs?

I guess if they're reselling, you get your money more quickly, and some poor sap gets to pay more because they were ignorant. But they should at least give credit where credit's due, if that is the case. At least they're not putting their name on them, eh?

PS, wasn't Trey Cobb in charge of Rotary Performance back in the day? What ever happened to that? I know he's a big name in the Subaru scene these days.

Well, since I've never sent them any bushings that I can recall, I assume they either took measurements from a differential mount and used mine as a "guide", or possibly someone had them install a pair of mine and they just took a few measurements before they went on the car.

I just thought it was funny. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

The only vendor I have an agreement with at the moment is Jason, so they're definitely not reselling my parts.

Chris Ott and Ari (dammit can't remember Ari's last name right now) are the guys who started the "real" Rotary Performance in Garland, Texas. There are some other shops around called RP, but they're posers

Way to late to get a patent. You can't patent an idea that is already release to the public. The volumes are so low that a patent wouldn't be worth the $$ anyway.

Yeah, people don't realize how much it costs and how long it takes to get a patent drawn up, submitted, and approved.

Precisely. Besides, I've saturated the market with my kits, and my prices are still lower than anyone else's.

I've got an agreement with Jason to resell kits through the RX-7 Store. Once he's out of stock, then I'll probably run another group buy.

I'm also considering producing a "wheel hop elimination" kit that just includes the differential bushings and trailing arm bushings. It could be installed in an afternoon with fairly little difficulty and without affecting alignment, and it would make a substantial difference in controlling the rear suspension -- assuming the pillow bushings were all in good shape, of course.

And I believe you shot down making the rear pillowballs? Too expensive materialwise, or something like that?
Plus most people who upgrade get pillowballs somewhere else/with the upgrades?

Something like that. They were pillow bushings for the same locations as the Nylon replacements BTW, not replacements for the OEM pillow bushings.

All the extra differential bushings being made as part of the current group buy are already spoken for. I'll have to set up a "wheel hop" kit group buy or something.

Excuse my ignorance, but what makes these things so special that only one person could've come up with the idea. The bushings are a common problem, so what makes you think that you're the only one that could've come up with this solution on your own?
