Well i wana by a 7

I now own a vr4 and want to buy an rx7. I'd like to get a rx7 that needs an engine or had some damage becaause they go for to much money if i would like to get a car with less than 75 thousand miles. My queston is if i buy a rx7 with no engine or tranny lets say, how hard would it be for me to find them. and how much would the engine and tranny cost me? Thanks
Gary

You'll be hard pressed to find an FD without an engine/trans in it at all. You'll probably be better off finding one with an engine that's just blown and getting a rebuild. You can buy a reman from Malloy for around $2500 I think, but you can get a blown engine rebuilt for around $3000. Everyone on this forum will recommend you get a rebuild over a reman. as the remans. are very unpredictable in terms of life expectancy. If you decide to get a rebuild, look up Pineapple Racing. They do great rebuilds.

Its sort of hard to find a car with a blown motor, and if you find one, it will be quite a distance. But overall it will cost you anywhere from 2000-5000 to rebuild the engine, depending on what you want done, and where you get it done. A new tranny, brand new, will run about 1100-1600 depending on where you get it.

Talking Wow, not its slim pickens!!

Usually I can goto auto trader on-line and find a few but the RX-7's are few and hard to find right now!! Maby that was because of Christmas and all these 16 year olds getting their every want and desire???

Anyhow, look high and low, you will have to dish some out to get this stuff. Definetly get one with a blown motor, 5 speed, and with turbos. The rebuild is about $3000.00, that doesn't include all the infrastructure to get the sucker hooked up correctly. You would have to add to that another 3K minimum for the turbos, and another 3K for the tranny, little **** like hoses, electronics, and every other little think, another couple K's..........see the pattern??

Best to get hooked up on a blown motor so you have the swap parts for the exchange with the rebuild.

Whew, check this one out!! Probably still has 'new car smell' on it!!
