I wana put in some wrench time.

Well im bored,im getting a job in a few weeks, i have nothing to do untill then, so i wana remove some emission stuff and get some more hp for free. I just got a ton of new tools an impact wrench and cleaned up my garage. Anything simple i can do without putting the car on jacks? and that isnt to hard for someone to do, i have a 1990 S5 Gxl auto, with an hks intake system. I just wana do some stuff.

Removing the emissions will not gain you much HP other than what you will gain by removing the cats.

and it is a federal offense to remove those.

You really have to consider what your local area laws and fines are. I wouldn't be removing emissions unless you are aware of if and when you may need to have the car e-tested again (if it's a daily driver), not to mention what you will have to pay out if you get caught.

If you are bored, detail your engine bay. Start taking stuff off, and cleaning it, and put it back on.

whats e testing, ? we dont have any emission laws that are inforced, altho cops dont like it when a loud car goes by. and its so low they wouldnt be able to see the cats.

Thats not going to stop them from looking. I think the maximum fine for removing your cats here is $10,000. I asked the owner of a local shop about it, one of his customers got rolled a couple years ago and is still paying off the fines.

excuse me?
just because i dont spend all day posting on some goddamn website, that doesnt mean im a newb. 3 months ago my friend Jon got pulled over, a cop gave him a fix-it ticket to replace his exhaust, and return his engine to stock. So yes, cops do write up de-catted cars.
As for cops running straight pipes, thats not likely unless they're off-road vehicles like border patrol.
So watch your mouth. I think that the only "noob" here is the one asking for directions on how to remove his exhaust. And that would be you. Thats the last time i try to help you out, you arrogant son of a bitch.

Wasn't aware that you are unable to read.

Anyone who has even basic knowledge of what's under the hood can comprehend easily what he is talking about. Don't put down that write up, it's a good one.

just clean it, fix all the odd broken parts. thats always fun. by the way i have had my probe for 3 years with out cats. if you live in middle of nowhere and dont have to worry about emmissions, then dont worry about having cats(test pipes are a cheap way to gain hp). if you get a pair of good sounding mufflers, then the car isnt too noisy anyways, even though the test pipe does give you a bit of rasp.

Go buy a Haynes manual, plenty of pictures. And get some block-off plates from Mazdatrix. Just follow the manual and replace the part with a block-off plate, and take care of the lines.

Maybe you should remove your OMP and switch to premix while you are at it.
