Smile Welcome me to the dark side....and some questions.

Well, tonight I finally got my FD running again. I must say, it feels so nice to have it back on the road again. Seems like its been 2 years....but more like 2 months.

My problems all started with either over boosting, or under boosting. I'd have boost patterns anywhere from a 10-8-14, to a 12-5-8, 8-8-7....you name it....I had it. So i figured I'd do a much needed vacuum line job. Removed the UIM....and thought twice about it. Non-seq, would be so much simpler I thought. Well, a power-fc, a set of block off plates, and some die grinding and the thing is running awesome! I was expecting the car to be laggy/doggy off the line, and feel like a slug in general until 4.5k. Not the case. I don't know if the power-fc is the cause, but the car is soooo much smoother. Boost starts building pretty quickly. I'd guess by 2.2-.4k. By 3.7-8 k, I was getting 7lbs with the profec b off. It feels so, nice to drive the car. I mean its a totally different car with the p-fc, and non-seq. I'm very happy with it, with no regrets at all.

Some quick questions though....

Whats a normal amount of knock according to the p-fc? I was seeing about 100 under full throttle. I was thinking its a bit high.

Does anyone know the difference in the different versions of the p-fc? Seems as though I have a 5.XXX or something like it.

Thanks, CJ

Depending on the gas I'm running I will generally see knock anywhere between 60-90, the interesting part is that I will only see 20-30 while under full boost but while shifting it will jump to the 60-90 level.

Manual states that it's just a number, but anything over 50 is knock. I would suggest turning your fuel up using the PIM voltages i.e. going past 100%.

My knock is around ~21 average...and that isn't drag racing...that's circuit style racing.

I use only midgrade gas(cheapest on base gas we can find). I have noticed that when I run 105 octane(Japanese brand), my knock stays the same, but the car runs SMOOTH...
