Weird sound at low speeds.
It was raining recently and I lost control of my FD and went completely over a curb and into someones lawn. This made me hurt for my car. Anywho, today was the first time I drove my car since, I had to change the tire since it was flat. I bent the stock wheel and will have to have it replaced, but that's another story. It drove fine, nothing seems wrong except when I get close to home. When I was in reverse there was this sound coming from the middle bottom of my car. It sounded like something was dragging on the ground. I pulled over to see if it was the exhaust hanging down, but nothing was dragging. I drove off and could still hear the noise. But only at slow speeds. Also if I'm barely moving and hit my brakes hard it happens almost like something is shaking hard, a metal sound. Nothing from my view point seems to be loose. So I don't know what it could be. Any ideas fellas. I always appreciate your guys' help. Thanks.

If you havnt already, get the car in the air so you can take a better look. More info would be good also bud. You didnt mention anything about a mechanic surveying the damage. What did the tire guy tell you? How hard did you slap that curb? That could cause more then just wheel damage, suspension arms could be bent/ moved and whatnot.
And be carefull in the rain : )

The tire guy said the wheel had a slight dent on the inside. He said that it only cause uneven tread wear. I took it to a mechanic and the hydraulic lift had busted yesterday and they couldn't lift it up. We did have it up on four jacks and there didn't look like there was any damage to the bottom of my car. From what we could tell. As for my FD, I feel awful. I have been so upset with myself for days. I drove around the block again to try to find the noise again. It's there almost when there is any type of vibration. Like starting the car there is a clunking rattling noise that is located in the directly in the middle, right before the hatch. It almost a metal on metal sound. But it goes away after that and when I pick up speed. I'm taking it to another mechanic tomorrow, hopefully their lift is working. It wasn't going fast enough to cause frame damage I believe. Also, I am going to be very careful in the rain. I can't do that to the car again. Thanks.

forget what the tire guy said. although he may have some mechanical knowledge, hes not a "mechanic" so take it to someone who has experience with FDs if possible.
from the limited info i have, i could only guess that your exhaust may be pushed against your differential case. of coarse it could be a million other things as well but its a start. good luck with the mechanic and dont sweat it man, youll be back on the road again soon. : )

If it's a stock cat, look for broken heat sheild brackets. They like to rust and break away from the cat, but they don't hang loose because they're sort of held in place by the inner heat shield. They may also make an exhaust leak where the weld breaks.
I removed the top outer heat shield entirely.

One sound fixed another arises. I should have gotten my FD in the air before posting but I was a little nervous. All it was was the exhaust and muffler had come off of several brackets and that was causing the clunking sound. Thanks for the help. Now I noticed there is a hissing sound when the turbos spool. I checked lines and hoses and nothing seems to be loose or off. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys.
