Weird question: R1 converted to atx catches fire. will 5spd harness work w/ atx?

The deal is my friend picked up a 1993 RX-7 R1 that has been converted from 5 speed to automatic for some reason or another. He had the intentions of selling the car after he got it for 8 grand in decent running condition. He had it sit in his driveway for about 5 months waiting on a buyer but not too many people were interested. He registers the car and gets it insured.
He takes the car out for the first time and it catches on fire. He immediately puts it out but the engine harness and a few other things melted beyond repair behind the manifold. I tell him a few things he needs and he orders them on Ebay (his choice) and I pick them up later on in the week. I see that he has got a 5 speed engine harness (WHY?) but I am trying to make it work. Is there anyway to make the 5 speed engine harness work with the automatic transmission if I still have the transmission harness?

I may have to hurry up and finish my 5 speed conversion and just use the 5 speed harness and give him my auto harness...

I personally don't see any way in hell to make it work but maybe someone can shed light onto the many different wires.

Too weird of a question?
I take it that I require a automatic harness then.

Get the proper part - the auto harness. You are getting in way over your head trying to re-convert a manual harness to a auto converted car.
