Weird Knocking Noise - done searching

Just did some searching, found a few topics somewhat similar to the problem I am having, but nothing exactly related so here goes.....

My 94fd is my every day driver. Every day when I go to work I drive my car, letting it warm up a min or two before leaving. But I get this problem whether the car is warmed up or not, almost all the time.

When I am backing up out of my parking space from my apartment I have to turn the wheel to the right so I can angle out right, when I am backing up I notice this weird knocking noise that sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. It happends most of the time when I am backing up at an angle and sometimes when I turn at slow rolling speeds.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

sounds like your rear bushings. its got to be suspension related. on both my 93's i had to replace the passenger side entire suspension, everything, because they r prone to making this wierd clunking noise back there. i just replaced everything and the problem was solved.

In the last month, I was getting the same EXACT experience as 209_rx7. I hear the knocking noise only when going slow and when making turns. The first time I noticed it was when I was backing and pullling into parking spaces. it's gradually getting louder.
209_rx7, what was the culprit and how much did it cost?? Thanks so much. Kindest regards, Graz

Sorry for the dbl post. Another thing I noticed with this knocking noise is that my emerency brake lever cable keeps getting stretched and it does not hold the car if parked on uneven surface. Two weeks ago, I tightened the cable but it is getting stretched again! Could these two symtoms come from one problem? I cannot park out of gear.
Any responses are greatly appeciated.

Knocking noise is probably from the pillow ball bushings. There are 6 of them in the rear...very common problem, do a search on them.

Thanks PandazRx-7. Your right...A search revealed tons of information on these pillow bushings. I hope Malloy Mazda still has them for $35 ea. Thanks again.
