Weird gas leak...
Interesting problem developed last night. Started up my mildly modded '94 after sitting all day. Noticed a pool of liquid forming in the gutter. Low and behold, gasoline! And it appeared to be dripping from somewhere near the oil pan. Well, here's the weird part. Drove it home, jacked it up, and let the car sit or awhile. No gasoline. Started it up... and no leak as well. When I crawl under the car, it smells like gas around the oil pan, put I cannot seem to locate an obvious leak. I let the car sit over night, and still no leak. Started the car cold, and no leak (I let it idle for a good 5min.
By the way, I have not touched the fuel system, except for replacing the fuel filter about 20K miles ago. The engine has 129,000 miles on it. Mods are efini y-pipe, down pipe, exhaust, intake, and greddy pulley.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!

HAHA.. I know, I know... but engine already needs replacing due to coolant seal failure. And I'm only boosting .7 bar anyways. I doubt I'll blow an apex seal.... something else will surely go.. heh heh.
I know.... KABOOOM!!! That's why I'm currently trying to figure it out... and I'm baffled. By the way... how difficult is it to drop in a Mazda reman. yourself? I have some experience around rotaries... but not a whole lot.
yeah... I heard about that... and that's if nothing else needs replacing. I heard the downtime is long as well. Which sux, since this is my only car. I am pressing my luck..and pretty soon, I'll be S@*% out of luck.

the funny thing is that sometimes I do smell gas under the hood, and sometimes even inside the cab of the car. But it's not that often. It's like it comes and goes. Very strange. The few occasions I did smell a trace of gasoline was usually at start up with engine cold.
if youre changing your fpd take the acv off. it is easier to access the pri. injectors and the fpd and the vaccum hoses for that matter. if you have the money i would go ahead and get it rebuilt with everything you need and want. thats the easy/expensive way. haha.
My pulsation dampener was leaking.... I didn't think much of the gas smell until I saw a puddle of fuel underneath my car. After that I pulled of my intake manifold only to see probably a 3-4" deep pocket of fuel on the block.
Either way injectors/fpd you are going to be working in the same spot, just start pulling the manifold off and check for a fuel puddle.

Definitely take it to a rotary shop to have it looked at. Dont wait or you'll be joining the folks with tragic hood BBQ. It's $500 or so to fix the FPD or the injector. It could be a gas line too. Call mazda with your VIN to see if the fuel line recall was done on your car.
