Weekend photo shoot...

Hey all, just wanted to share some Zaino'd pics from this weekend, another beautiful one in Colorado...I figured I would post after doing some upgrades & stuff including my signals, springs, rear spoiler/ fr lip, apexi intake, pfc & some other misc items. I prefer the classic look of the FD, although I also have the painted lights which some find nice and other hate! Thanks for looking cheers...

You really should move that front license plate up, you're blocking most of the air to the radiator and IC. Nice looking car though.

I don't like the way the rear looks. IMO, the painted brake lights are ugly.

Thanks, I hate the CO law about front plates, had it off for a while until the cops decided to let me know it should be there again. : ) I would like to think of a good solution but can't really figure one, and I don't want to drill into the front of the car, instead I elected to use a bracket mounted to the underside of the air dam, then attached the plate. Perhaps poking lots and lots of little tiny holes in the plate would let some more air through!

As I anticipated, although IMO a black RX-7's rear lights are essentially the same thing....body color. To each his own, that is what makes life great....

The OEM bracket locates the plate above the opening (maybe a slight amount of overlap, but much better than what you have in place now), and no drilling is involved. You might be able to find one on the forum or at the local stealership.

Phase2Motortrend.com sells a front license plate bracket for the Nissan crowd that under driving conditions the license plate hinges back due to air drag. Might be somethig to consider adapting to your RX.

nice i'll check that out, i would like to find a "screen licensee plate", so it would allow air through like a screen door, but still display my numbers!

do you get those through your DMV or is it just kind of a decoy?

You can always go with the 99 front bumper with the plate holder
Still nice clean OEM look.

Thanks, I seem to getting a few people asking about the wheels, I got them about 5 years ago, borbet type t's, 17"x 8" fr and 17" x 9.5" r - it is lowered slightly with a set of eibach springs, I think the pics on the side of the road kind of make it look less lowered because of the uneven surface, but in the first pic it shows it more accurately.

Ok, cool. I thought they were Borbets, I remember the Tire Rack had a huge sale on them years ago.

Yeah I think I got them for like $1500 or so for the whole tire & rim set-up, certainly a steal. I like the wider rears & deep dish and not too flashy. The stability at high speeds and increased handling was noticeable right away.

I was checking out your site, beauty of a car....noticed you were from the PA area and talked about having your work done at Dave's shop, not sure if we ever met but a bunch of us went to his wedding in like 99 and all chipped in for a lift for him before he moved to location he is currently. I hope he is still doing well, great guy and always did great work, I am in CO now and would like to find someone that good out here! Cheers

Your car is beautiful. I'm not a fan of the tail lights either, but the front of it is gorgeous. There's a spot in my heart for VR FDs

Yours is as well, I really like the gold rims against the red, is that orig paint? Looks a bit darker, like a maroon. I am preferable to the Millen pictured here, also maroon and where the light idea came to mind....

Thumbs up

heeey! nice to finally get a look at your car! so thats paint on the tailights? doesnt look to bad i think. i prefer how the black stands out and the shape of our tailights. well i cant talk i got a cover and its going to be painted too.

i have NEVER had a problem without a front plate...i dont know if you can, but shouldnt u be able to flip it around? thats how mine was, so the plate sticks up instead of in front of the opening. if they are different holders i could give u mine if i didnt already give it away! or is it possible to mount to the side if you dont have a pass side oil cooler?

anyway..i like it...those wheels are really nice!
