Wedding and Rotorstock 8

Well Saturday was the day it all happend for myself and the misses, what a fun packed weekend we had with the U.K Rotary community!

After a late night on Friday and a nervous 3 hours sleep Friday night I woke up at 7am to get ready for our Wedding at 9am. Both our FD's where dressed for the occassion with white bows and ribbon on them.

A 9am registry office wedding is fairly early (for the bride and guest's perhaps a little to early), however 80 of us managed to get there on time. One of our FD owning friends played the violin during the ceremony and another read out a poem. The Bride (Feed Chick) walked in looking knock out (I thought i was going to cry, but I held out).

After this we had a great (if not a little long) photoshoot and of course they included our cars in the later pics too (so we can't wait to get our hands on those in a couple of weeks time.

Following this we headed of to Rotorstock 8 at Santapod, this is where we were going to spend the weekend (yes even camped there). We arrived at around midday and the show was well underway with a great turnout of cars from MRC, FDUK and RX8 owners club. We had arranged to race each other down the strip while a dear friend read out a speach (we were surposed to launch when she finished).

We lined up side by side on the line (two yellow lights on each side), all was looking good. We were both listening to the speach, I looked over to the misses and looked back, the lights were green. Holy Poop, I thought she had got me and launched hard to the beep in first and second, popped it in third and looked to see where she was. She was of course quite a way behind me (she was busy listening to the speech to) so i eased off a bit (which was a mistake) she was realing me in quick so i had to put my foot in again, the revs had dropped a bit so it was slow on the pick up. But I crossed the line first in the slowest time I have ever done (14.9 with a 1.5 reaction time at 95mph), now this is where there is now a debate as the misses crossed the line with a 14.7 with a 1.8 reaction time and 100mph). I say I won and she claims the victory too, for now we have settled on a draw but i think we will be having another go soon! (and yes she did all this in her wedding dress)

The rest of the day was spent catching up with friends and looking at the cars on the stand (this is the first show that i didn't take any pics). We set up our tent and got ready for the evening party in the Marque at Santapod.

We had such a great night the disco finished at 1am but the party went on until 3am, I was up again at 6am (feeling slightly worse for wear) but a cuppa tea and a bacon roll soon got me going again. Sunday at the pod was a Monster truck day and FWD challenge down the strip. Our boys representing the FD's in the Japanese Drag Series had partied hard with us Saturday night and had stayed on to take myself and Di down the strip on a passenger ride. They are allowed to go upto 130mph with passengers, so we borrow some helmets and got strapped in (i was quite nervous). The burnout was amazing you can feel so much power going down (these guys are running upto around 700bhp (maybe a little more). I was with Blitz in the Piston Killa FD and Di was with Rob inthe Silver FD, we sat at the line and waited for the lights to change.

1 Amber..2 Amber... Wait for it..........GREEEEEN..Bam we shot off the line and the push was so hard, absolutly unbelievable i have never felt anything like it. Di and Rob came shooting passed us (must have got upto about 140mph and slowed down for the line). We crossed the line doing 129 and Di/Rob doing 105 infront of us, this was an unforgetable experience.

So a big thanks to everyone in the U.K for making our weekend so great. Here are a few pics that i have robbed to show you.

Congratulations to the both of you. Very nice FDs and just an amazing thing to have a married couple both owning and driving FD3s.

Again, congrats and may the best be with the both of you!

My pleasure, dude Here are a few other pics from the day (in no especial order)... which, I have to say was most excellent. Never been to a wedding reception at a drag strip before, and I have to say I can't understand why more people don't do it. Perfect day (and night) and I was made up to see the bride and groom have such a fantastic time on their most important day.

Best car show evar lol. Had a bit of everything, cool cars, drag racing, wedding cake, illegal rave in the next field all night with police helicopters hovering, rain, monster trucks, sleep deprivation, having to stop drinking before the bar shut because of starting to burp neat gin into my mouth, exploding pinatas, racing GSXRs on the M1 getting up there, and of course the wedding of two bloody good friends to whom we're all extremely grateful for sharing their special day with us reprobates. Extreme chaos anarchy weekend!

Top Bombing!
