Are we not *supposed* to get 10psi, but rather only 9psi?

Hello-

Check out this link:
http://www.rx7.net.nz/newrx7.htm

According to that, at 6500rpm, the 93-95 is only supposed to have about 9psi, not 10psi.

This is exactly what happens with my car and I always suspected something was fishy, but now I'm not so sure. I get 10-11psi before the transition, a quick transition, then 10psi again, then it dies down to 9psi at 6000rpm or so.

What's the boost SUPPOSED to be up there?

Take care,
Shad

11-12

i get 11-12 and boost creep sometimes to 13 which is fuel cut at or above 6k. i just have a downpipe/flywheel. if you get only 9 it might be a cracked crossover tube unless you've done the efini y-pipe. oh i have that too.

Yes, with restriction in airflow its quite common to only get 9psi towards redline.

Some cars do 10-8-10-8, where it actually tapers to 9 or 8 psi by redline. I have seen a few bone-stock cars that held 10 to redline, though.

It is normal for a stock car to lose a little boost at higher rpms. The restrictions in the stock intake and exhaust "clog" things a bit when the flow rate gets very high.
