Question Water Thermoswitch?

Will an FD run worth a **** with the thermoswitch, that tells the ECU the water temp, being broke? Because I broke mine yesterday trying to get the damn connector off and the whole switch broke in half....so I have no idea what my water temps are outside of the stock coolant gauge. I tried to drive it around my neighberhood block and it ran like complete ****.....could it be the switch putting my car is some sort of limp more, or do I have some problems with my fuel and spark?

I have a brand new motor, new single turbo, Power FC, 756/1680 injectors, A1000 FP, FMIC, DP, MP, Cat Back, HKS Twin Power, etc....I just wanted to make my car move on it's own power and it ran for ****. Just curious...I ordered a new thermoswitch which should be here Friday, but if you know, let me know.

Thanks,
Scott

A lot of the ECU's maps depend on the correct temp to figure out weathe the car is warm or cold, you could be running the "Acrtic Weather" map and running way too rich...

Ok....well I only drove it around my street once for maybe 30 seconds or so and it was running like complete ****....way way too rich I think. Because when I stepped on the gas pedal, it would stumble and act like it was flooded....my PFC was showing 34% Injector Duty Cycle at only 2640rpm which is way too high I think.

I ordered a new one from Malloy today, it should be here Friday. Thanks for the help guys.

The thermosensor (located immediately above the thermoswitch) tells the ECU what temp the engine is at. From what I understand, all the thermoswitch does is turn on the low speed fan relay.

Scott...was your themosensor or thermoswitch bad?

How did you know?

What was the water temp reading on the PFC?

What was your water temp voltage?

just curious having some strange problems of my own..

still have your Pettit cold intake on my car

It was the Green connector that reads the water temp for the ECU. My water temp reads ----. I have not checked the voltage though. I knew that the green connector was not in the best shape, the wires did not stay inside the connector properly...they were kind of loose. So when the readings were ---- I knew there was a problem there. My FPR is right above that area connected to my UIM, and the bottom return hose was pressing on the wires so I figured that was it. I tried to disconnect the green connector from the thermothingy, and it broke in half very easily...so it may have been broke but not completely...but it is now.

My Black connector below is also messed up....the thermothingy is still fine, but the black wire had to be fixed. I really need a new wiring harness....but they are kind of expensive, so for now, mine will have to do.

We'll see on Friday what happens.

Scott

ps So I assume the PCAI is still working fine?
