Radiator unberbelly, Do mean the factory part?

I have a fresh rebuild and run in the upper 90's in the sun. In rolling parking lots 106C is common. Getting a new one installed Friday, guess this will mean the intercoller will be on hold for awhile...

I still need to get a "real" water temp gauge, but my PFC shows anywhere from 91 street cruising to 99 for harder driving..

The only thing is say I take my car to kragen to buy car wash stuff and it sits there in the lot, the engine will heatsoak and it will get to around 107 when i get out of the store yikes

Listen people, if you're running water and you're seeing 130Celsius you're SOL. BUT if you're running Evans NPG+, it should be fine.

I am not saying it's 100% fine now b/c I have less than 5K on my Malloy reman so we may revisit this.

For myself, vented hood, FluidDyne Radiator, Aux Electric Water Pump, new thermostat, I am seeing 110C in 110F in Phoenix on the highway at 80MPH. Boosting hard, I see 116-118C. Hot restart, I see 125C, it drops immediately to 100C.

yeah, i pull over if i see 100c or around 208f. and thats with one fan broken, so im only running on one fan. and it only heats up because im having brake booster problems causing brakes to clamp rotors as im driving. only when it does this does it get to 100c WITH the broken fan.

dude, your having some issues, maybe air pockets in the rad??? is your ast working?

Yes, nothing dramatic, but I use it. It breaks down the surface tension of the coolant, which increases it's ability to conduct heat. My gauge is just analog, but I've heard that if you have a digital gauge, you may actually see temps go up slightly.

last time my motor saw 250+, it was with a broken waterpump, and @ that point, all the internal seals were tosted. It was with 50/50 water/coolent. Maybe Evan+ is different, but good luck. Anything over 220 is border line.

220 F. isn't "border line". IIRC, the stock thermosensor doesn't turn the fans onto medium speed until then. And the high speed relay isn't activated in until around 225 F.

^That seems awful cool. Too cool. Where do you have your temp sensor mounted?

I'm curious why there seems to be such a wide variance in temps. Are there some modifications that people are doing and did not mention? Are people with the really low temps. not running a thermostat?

For comparison, I have a mildly modded car (PFC, intake, y-pipe, SMIC, downpipe, high flow cat, exhaust) and never see above 85C when the engine is running - even after heavy, repeated boosting. Looking back over many Datalogged spreadsheets over the past few months I can not find a number above that (unless the engine is turned off and the car sits). I have the PFC turn on fan #1 at 85C with or without AC. Before setting the fan #1 to come on at 85C I would see 90-92C when driving.

I am running the stock radiator with 30% anti-freeze and 70% distilled water.

FWIW,
Basically stock, OEM t-stat, with DP, K & N, Fluidyne, ~40/60 coolant to distilled water w/ water wetter, Miata TS,
It will shoot to 215 F. under boost this time of year w/o AC on, but quickly drops back to 190-195 F. at cruise. Ambient today was about 85 F. and my Temp sender is in the TB coolant line.

Today my car was running at 93-96c with the A/C off in 95-100 degree weather (las vegas heat)

I'm pretty worried that during the real summertime here (115 degrees out or more) that this car is going to overheat.

the most I have ever seen my car run is 88 degrees C. 99% it stays between 85-86 C. The fans are set to come on at 85C via the PFC.

I think the people who are claiming low temps are the ones having there fans come on earlie. Cause my fans dont come on and my car sits between 92 to 98c mainly 95. Which is fine, but for the people who are under 180 f i really hope you dont push the car cause that is way to cold for it.

yes, i think that is true, but, the guy's temps that started this thread are way way way too high. that is engine damage high. 123 C is extreme.
