does it constantly smoke after 3k or is it just at start-up? thats not a good sign and a rebuild might have to be on the way.

does the stock coolant temp sensor even read up to 186*C?

No such thing. No matter which seal you buy if you overheat it to the point that you warp the rotor housings/irons it's an expensive repair as those parts are now junk.

Im still trying to figure out how the hell it got to 377F after about 10 minutes of the car being on??

That still seems impossible to me.

Cause this past summer, with about 80+ ambient temps, i would still warm my car up for about 5 minutes (car acts weird if i drive it cold) and even before i get on the highway which is another 5 minutes, the car is only up to 130-140F. Even when i get to my job which is about 10 minutes away, thats 15 minutes total of the car being on, the temp is only up to 190F, 180F with the fans on.

So how the hell does it reach 377F? Were you driving the car with no coolant at redline the entire time?

its a t04r.
stock rad and ast.
fan relay is fucked and it was idling for 4 minutes with stock rad and no fans.

btw, i didnt boost AT ALL while driving.

did i mention there is a FAT 4" intercooler blocking the stock rad?

new KOYO coming in tomorow.

update: i drove it today, pushed it quite a bit, ran fine, watertemps didnt go over 85*C, very little white smoke on startup and thats it. BUT there was a sweet smell (literally) to the exhaust.

Doesnt matter if your fan relay is broken, the fans dont come on til about 221F anyway which still seems impossible to reach on the situation you provided, unless ambient temps were 100F+.

Silicone would be fine, but since your looking for NASA style protection, I'd go with Viton. You should be able to melt your motor down before those fail.

IIRC some one had a McMaster Carr part number for them.

Yea... actually i thought about that... what if the sensor was off or somthing? but i have no clue how i would be able to comfirm that. It had to have been way up there... the car stalled and wouldnt turn on, not to mention some smoke coming from the engine bay.

I didnt want to tap the WP housing to put a temp sensor in there now... even if i did i dont know how i would wire that into the PFC

Sweet smell is coolant.

And I still think it was incredibly irresponsible of you to start up and drive your car knowing the fans didn't work.

THE FANS WORK. But the relay isnt there so they dont come on AUTOMATICALLY. Ive set the fans to be always on right now and everything seems to be good.

Koyo coming in a few hours. That and replacing the coolant, and then a pressure test should tell me whats going on.

But right now im pretty happy with everything, its not acting up at all.

I'd stay away from the rotary aviation/mcmaster coolant o-rings. I've heard too many stories of failures.

If anything, look into the pineapple racing HD coolant o-rings.

Im really doubting any damaged happened to the engine.... its show no signs at all of a coolant seal failure.... only ones is a little WHITE smoke and just a bit of BLACK smoke.

Is 377F even possible with ethylene glycol? I don't think I have ever heard of an engine running much more than 260F (except for the weird adiabatic engine Smokey Yunick made).
