water temp guage location

would it be a good idea to take the temperature on the throtle body rubber coolant line so that i don't have to run the line in front of the engine?

i could also take a guage with shoter water line.

thanks a lot

Post up here what you end up doing. I am trying to find a spot where I can tap into a rubber coolant line. I went with the autometer mechanical water temp gauge, woops. The line is short and the sender is huge. I guess thats what you get for $50.

hehe

I think I have an idea on the line to tap into. In this picture attached, circled in red, is this where the throttle body coolant line is?

That's the correct hose to plug into, but according to some members on the big list, if you install your gauge there you will h2o temps that will be around 5 degrees less than if you mounted on it on the water pump housing. Good luck.

Only looked at the first post, no mention of a mech.

Thanks eric, I will probably install there. I have my PFC to tell me temps too. I just need something for a quick glance every now and then.

if i did my mods again i would not get an extra gauge... I would linearize my stocker ( really easy to do!) and buy a temp switch that was set for 210 degrees... Then run that to the low coolant bulb or maybe the cruise control light ( since i dont have cruise..) and that way i would only know when the temp is beyond 210!
