water in spare tire wheel well???

guys i got a interesting problem..i just picked up another FD and i noticed when it raiins outside or I when i wash the car...i get water/rain buildup (puddle) in the spare tire wheel well???? i checked all the rubber seals around the hatch and checked for any holes near that area...cant seem to find the culprit!
has anyone experienced this before?

are you sure its water? my rear window washer tank leaked and i ended up with a puddle of washer fluid in the spare tire well.

otherwise, i would recommend taking out the trunk carpet, hatch cover and divider. take a friend to the car wash (the manual kind with the high pressure wash), then spray the trunk area and see if you can find where it comes from. you could also put paper towels around the seal (on the inside) and spray the car. wherever the paper towels are wet is where your leak is.

if i had to guess, i would think it is probably coming in through the hatch glass. the seals around the hatch glass are notorious for going bad. make sure you still have the rubber seal connector at the bottom of the seal.

Do you have a spoiler? It could be leaking through there. That is how water got into my tire well.

You should check the nylon grommet du-dad that the black plastic corner pieces screw to, you know, the ones in each corner above the tailights when you open the hatch. It has been rumored to seep through there.

I had the exact same problem recently. It was where the rear spoiler attached to the body. I went to McMasters which is like an industrial supply house and got a sheet of closed cell foam with sticky on one side and made new gaskets...
Problem Solved
hope this helps
