Water seal???

I just rebulid my motor and I am starting to think I have the same problem as before. The first time I took it apart was because of a bad water seal. Yesterday I was letting it idle in may driveway, to much snow to drive. The add coolant light came on. I though it might of been a because I put in a front mount and the radator had been moved. So I topped it off, 10 mins later it did the same B.S. Today I went start it and it acted flooded. I pulled the plugs(new) the were a little wet, but smelled like fuel. I don't know if a am going crazy but I think I smelled coolant out the exhaust. The coolant lines were colapesed, which makes me think the worst, like vaccum had pulled all the coolant out. I am going to start checking all the coolant lines, caps exc pressure test hoping it isn't another bad water seal. I know for a fact the the water seals were all installed correctly, I double and triple checked. Anyone out there think of anything else it could be????????? I know it doesn't sound good, but I guess I will know tommorrow when I do the pressure test. Does any one have a link to the pressure test? Thanks for any info, maybe I will get lucky and it will be something stupid. Other wise this will be the 3rd time in the past 6mths the motor has been out

Maybe check to see if you have a warped housing?

I never even thought of that, how can you really tell? I don't know if the car was over heated before I bought it. So it could be possable, can you check for it? They looked fine to me, but you can tell with just by looking at it. If that is the case, I should just get another engine, because more than one housing is probaly warped too.

Sorry, I don't really know the best way to tell. If the engine were apart I would say lay a straight edge across the housing and possibly that would show something. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here. Anyone?

I believe the best way to check is with a straight edge and a feeler gauge. Acceptable tolerances are probably in the shop manual.

When I crank the engine with the plugs out all kinds of **** comes out of the leading plug hole. The front seems to be alright. My next questions is, could I just replace the rear housing if that is the only one bad. Or would the rotor housing be warped too? No matter what the motor has to come out, I just want to see what is the best way to go. New motor or rebuild again. If all the housings have been over heated then it would be cheaper to by a new motor. In japan I can get one for 1500. Housings are 300 a piece. I still have to do the pressure test. I am crossing my fingers. Thanks for the info

My God did you just say $1500 US for a completely new engine? On a side note if you look really closely on the side housing where the coolant seals sit, there could be a small crack on them and on the mating surface for hte rotor housing if there is too much corrosion it would not seal against the water seal. That happened to me with the rebuild that came with the car.

if i were you i would start fresh with a reman. Rebuilding your own engine is cool but man think about all that pain you went through and time you lost. well, good luck with everything.
